You must have been posh, all the way down to Folkestone first before going on to hop picking?
    Two holidays in one?
Where did you go hop picking?

Don't really know. We were all taken in a van for a week of work and fun before going back to school. Our school used to start summer holidays late and finish them late.

My enduring memory of the Kent coast was doing a flit with the rest of the group, in a Ford transit, to see T.Rex play Ramsgate and Hastings  Parents were not happy but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do......

Us townie kids used to love the friendliness of all the pickers and I kept in touch with some of them for years. Sadly, from what I heard, none of them are with us anymore

Mike, I dont understand it, I've read through all this over and over and cant find the problem, @Islander77 made a joke, and it was replied to in a joking manner, by myself and @Cuttings.

I'm still trying to find the,..........Quote. "As the official reprimand I found, of great length, was far far more severe than my attempted humorous comment warranted I am forced to quit the forum lest any further comments of mine get misinterpreted and I get verbally offensively attacked again".

I dont think anyone verbally offensively attacked anyone.:scratch::scratch:

After reading through this topic, I realised just how different it was where I grew up. There was no travelling miles to pick hops. Instead we went into the fields behind the house to pick peas and/or potatoes for the local farmers. Not many machine back then.

Not much travelling to see bands either. A 15 minute bus ride took us to what was voted the worlds best disco in 1978, and across the road from that we could watch proper singers/groups such as Buddy Holley, and many, many more.
