There's probably only one person in the building, everybody else has been furloughed.

Here in Ireland, they just postponed the proposed next stage in reopening. This involved pubs. That weekend when they opened in the UK a few did here, those who sold serious food with a time limit. People went ape in Dublin. At least 26 pubs are being charged. One of the rules is that people cannot drink at the bar and they don't like that. One publican has put up an electric fence in front of the bar!

I eventually managed to get some X rays done on my knees today.
Never seen the hospital so quiet, there was hardly anyone there, the car park was only about a third full, usually it takes 15 minutes to find a space, and it was FREE.

The corridors had only a hand full of people on them and they were mostly staff.
Most of the out patients areas looked like they were closed.

They took my temperature on the way in, but funnily enough all the hand sanitizers that were usually there were all gone?

Came back through the town centre, I'd estimate only about 25% of normal traffic.

I think things have got to change an awful lot before we ever get anywhere near something resembling normal.
There cant be many out there doing their normal jobs or their normal routine.

We went to a shopping centre yesterday, as I'm on hols we planned the trip in mid day working day. It's the first we have done anything like that since 15th March when I started working from home and the Teenager's uni courses went online. We get our shopping delivered as always, and haven't really been out out apart from walks.

It was sad. Matalan had a clear stickering to show which way you have to walk, plenty of offers and few people, but even the Teenager lost her appetite to browse cheap earrings and indecent skirts. I got my slippers and we went out.

We did put masks on outside the entrance just to get used to the thing, only to find out the masks are terribly hot and give me a fear of suffocating. I do get claustrofobic so no news there. Hopefully practise will help.

Otherwise it was an unenjoyable trip, dodging careless and caring people, trying not to be in anyone's way, feebly trying to get inspired of things in sale and then rushing home. The Teenager declined an offer of Greggs sausage roll.

It was very sad, and I felt a bit emotional. This is our life now, we all miss the freedom we had and try to adapt to the new way. Then again, my Dad was born in 1940 so his, and especially his parents' generation had the same loss of "normal" but with much more imminent threat.

I do wish something positive will come out of this mess.

I think I know how you feel, @Selleri.

I have started making the shaped masks (they don’t feel quite so claustrophobic as the standard ones), and you have to do a lot of dart-cutting for the curves. The pattern says “use pinking-shears, or cut a dart every ‘x’ mm”. After making 3 masks, I was going mental with cutting the darts, so I needed to get a pair of pinking shears.

I headed over to Waterloo - our nearest shopping centre town, as my local quilting/sewing shop is closed for summer holidays. Normally on a Friday the town is heaving. You can barely drive along the main street, crowds of people constantly using the zebra crossing points, as well as jumping out in random places in front of you.... Allow an hour to find a parking space.... you know the sort of thing!
It was like a Monday morning, the week after the sales have stopped. Lots of shops are flouting the law, and have already started their summer sales. But it’s not enticing any custom. There were just 2 shoppers in the haberdashers, and 3 shop assistants. I bought my scissors, and headed home again. I did stop off at a garden centre that I’ve only just noticed (been living here for nearly 8 years now?) and bought a Venus fly trap, as you do! Just 4€ for a well-sized plant -.

Anyway, this afternoon I tried making a mask with my new improved cutters. It was so, so much quicker and easier!

Well things are looking up, Chief Waffler has stated that he hopes everything will be back to normal by November, and its looking good for Christmas.

So where does that leave the preparations for the second wave of 120 000 dead during the winter.:roflol:

We are being fed bull **** and have been from day one.

"It'll be over by Christmas" the alpha males and my Teenager say. Not very reassuring, is it?

Well I've been looking around and people working preparing food dont seem to be wearing masks, is that right.
Only come next week every customer in a shop will have to wear a mask, but it appears that if you work preparing food or drinks you dont?
                  I must be missing something.

                  Dont answer that.

Its not surprising really is it, the whole thing has been a complete bungle.
I dont think many of the statistics from anywhere are reliable as every country seems to have its own method of counting.

The deaths they are NOT counting are those that require medical treatment but cant get it because NHS has shutdown, although they wont admit it and still keep coming out with the old waffle that they are still open for business.

I particully like the bit about being run over by a bus.:loll:
