Found that out in Bruges some years ago. We saw a chip stall in the square, I thought for a change that I would have curry sauce in my chips but the sauce was curry flavoured mayo!!!!!
I can't eat it so it went straight in the bin and I went without as I couldn't be *rsed to queue again.:frown:

Named after the aristocracy, the Duke de Pommefrite.

Those were the days. The rumble of the tumbril and the clatter of the guillotine :rolleyespink:

I remember discussing the French situation with Sir Percy :old:

Just seen the biggest insult a developer can make to a village.
New housing development called Bluebell Walk.
Yeah it was before they moved in. :frown:

Harrietsham? Cor, those prices are cheap, only £450,000 for a 4 bed detached, they're £675,000 in my village.

After doing most of the gardening and DIY for my parents, I then got lumbered with doing the same for my in-laws. Now I'm renovating my daughter's house and sorting her garden out.

Looks like I'm never going to get any help from anybody else.

I dont think I'd pay 450 for them, not enough garden;)
I like the way one of the main features is "soft close kitchen units".:roflol:
That's one of BIG selling points in everyone's book, surely.

At least £1,250,000 here to get anything with a decent garden. All the smaller houses with big gardens have been divided into existing house with small garden + building plot, again with only room for small garden.

Usual thing that happens here is you get the odd small cottage along side a road out in the countryside, its often rundown with an elderly owner who has been there for years.

Owner dies, the cottage get snapped up and demolished.

Then a brand new house springs up.

If you have the money I think its the only way to get a decent sized plot.

Some of our road has been resurfaced. There were a few big potholes in it. They scraped the old off and put new tarmac down filling in the holes. These last few days we've had a lot of rain and we can see that they didn't do it very well, can still see where the holes are but not as deep, they didn't flatten it very well at all, it's all uneven.

The other year in the town near us where I look after some disabled people the tarmac had worn away a deep hole just where the lowered curb was for one of those people's mobility scooter. It was quite dangerous for him so I contacted the council and they said they would look into it :rolleyespink:. Two weeks later I contacted them and they said their engineer had looked at it and agreed it needed doing urgently. They then told me that it was listed to be done in 18 month's time.

That night, after midnight, I turned up with two bags of quick set cement and tipped them into the hole and then added the water (as per the packet). I'd never used the stuff before but it said it sets in 20 minutes. So I parked my car just by it so a car couldn't drive over it and went for a half hour walk. When I came back it appeared to have set quite well so I drove home.

The person I look after told me the next morning that it was now rock hard (or cement hard :heehee:) so I phoned the council and told them they could take it off their to do list as one of the neighbours had filled it with cement. The person at the other end said "that's not allowed" and I politely said "too late!". That afternoon workmen came along, dug out the cement and tarmacked the area. :loll:

I think it only cost me £6 and certainly got the job done. :)
