That same news is being reported slightly differently here. Its 3 new cases in Da Nang, and they are evacuating 80 000 tourists, all local over the next few days. Not doubting anyones word, just wondering what is true.

What's it like wearing a face mask on a Spanish beach in Summer? (After flying out in a mask).

Brit holidaymakers must wear face masks on Costa del Sol beaches from tomorrow

Then flying back wearing a mask.

Then having a swab stuck up your nose/down your throat on your return.

And then staying indoors for 14 days.

            Happy holidays?

I feel sorry for all those who booked pre-crisis, couldn't cancel/get refund, and who've now either gone, or had to cancel and lose their money because they can't afford to lose 2 weeks wages on return, or have some commitment they can't get out of.

I find that I now procrastinate about going to the shops. I don't put my mask on until I'm walking up to the store but I still find it stifling for the short time I have it on. We have 29 confirmed (and obviously those people are isolated) cases of '19 in my region of 450K people in just under a 1,000 square kilometer area.

It amuses me to see people wearing their masks whilst driving their cars, windows up and all alone :rolleyespink:

In the UK at the moment new cases have stalled not going up or down, but they say the winter will be the second wave when we don't go out so much and we keep the windows and doors closed all the time, it's the same for the common cold and flu.

I don't know the medical side to things but it has occurred to me that they're now worrying about the flu season causing problems with overloading the medical system.

If we're not mixing with other people (most of us wrinklies aren't mixing much at all) and social distancing and wearing masks when shopping then it seems to me that there will be a much smaller incidence of flu. As the usual hospitalisations from flu are mainly in the wrinkly sector then there should be a much lower take up of hospital services.

Is there a flaw in my reasoning?

Therefore, on those grounds, should wrinklies that are keeping themselves to themselves bother to have the vaccination?

IMO....yes as it only takes one visitor to , albeit unknowingly, pass the bug on.

Not many people are living without ANY contact with the outside world really...even if the grocery delivery person is their only contact....they could be carrying it :noidea:.....better to be safe than sorry. :dbgrtmb:

I think you will find they are upping the flu jab this year and it is going to be offered to anyone over 50.
The age for children has also changed, although I can't remember by how much.

I think they should give you the option, have the jab or wear a mask for the rest of your life.

Seriously though, if not wearing a mask is considered anti social then not having any jabs available, should be as well.
