:yikes: Oh no!! Hope everyone one was OK. Whiplash may seem minor compared to what could have happened....but is very painful and can hang around for years afterwards.

Once, when asked why a certain house on a bend in a stretch of road was always getting artics ploughing into it, the reply was, the drivers dont want to change down a gear, so take the bend too fast.:roflol:
Kind of says it all really.

When we first moved here 38yrs ago our lane was open to traffic and it was a rat run for avoiding the nearby town. We live on a bend and I can honestly say not a week went by without accidents of varying degrees. We even had injured people on our sofa!!
Thankfully the lane closed 31 years go this August:hapydancsmil: I remember it well as I had just had our 3rd child a week earlier... this meant I had 3 children under 4 ....that I could now take to the park or even toddler groups :yahoo: , I didn't have a car and our lane was ( is ) very narrow and without pavements so venturing out on foot with 3 tiny tots was not on the radar at all !! Our lane had ( has ) an unlimited speed limit...can you believe it.

In a small town near us they have one road that has a very sharp double bend. Both are almost at right angles and only wide enough for one vehicle around the bend and on the 50ft long stretch between them. There is a house on the corner and it was continually being hit. So the council has put in steel posts there :blue thumb:.

No damaged house any more but a lot of scrapes on the posts. :heehee:

I've not been outside the house since March. For the last two weeks I've been going to Tesco Express with my daughter & Grandaughter, the first week the shop had a one-way system in operation, which worked so well.

This week the one-way system has been taken away.............And one idiot man kept coming backwards and forwards past me, I just had to tell him off.

                            Today. 4.8.20

Having my lunch. A bowl of chicken soup. Phone rings. Me having a meal seems to send out waves, inviting phone calls.

                            Picking up the handset.
                            Hello!

A woman's voice rattled off the following.
This is the HMRC. An arrest warrant has been issued for your immediate arrest.

Replacing the handset and saying something like....cobblers, spelled much differently.

Thankfully I haven't lost my detection powers.

Fast speaking. Bells began to ring. NO salutation, can I speak to Mr....

From past experience, I know full well that apart from a caller identifying themselves and connecting with the right person etc. Having executed arrest warrants in times past.\ An offender may be warned of possible legal action, but in reallity to give the tip off of arrest.

I dialed 1471 and obtained the callers number. Going online 'Who phoned me' I inserted the number. No ref came up. I left a basic comment.

What really pees me off about all of this, is. It has become common knowledge that folk are being ripped off due to the criminals.
In my case. My phone number is ex directory. This began as a security must when Val & I worked for the MOD. Now with computers, the scum have devised methods of, random access dialing. So they break through these barriers. Also, filling in documents online or on paper. Home phone No. If and whn I disclose my land line number. I always add. Ex. Dir. Response is. This is not a valid number.

In a way of summing up. Sadly as the years take their toll, many oldies fall into the trap. I think it's high time the government stepped in and banned all of these practices, and applied a heavy sentence.

OK. I'm an oldie (80) I have medical probs.....who hasn't. My latest is a dicky heart. Such phne call could easily have ended my life. Time action was taken.

Unfortunately there is little that can be done about most of these type of calls as they mainly come from outside this country. Being a born sceptic I tend to take the stance of not believing anything that comes from unsolicited phone calls, emails and other communications. They have to provide proof of what they are saying and never just over the phone.

HMRC state categorically that they will not phone you (except by prior arrangement) or email you. Their method of communication is by snail mail and it will have all relevant details in it.

As with most things, any unsolicited communications should be checked through your normal channels.

I have fun with unsolicited calls but am known to be peculiar! :loll:
