    'Well. Hello Sailor'

    Well done my friend.

I still have my National Registration card wih my reg number written in. AZDA 417.

I think it's good that we do save some documentation of the past.

I still have the small case that belonged to my dad. It contained documentation of his military service, including medical records. I remember my old GP Dr. William Remmington. MBE etc once saying to me. 'Young Mick. Dad's name was Mick/Michael. Doc said. Young Mick, you'll never be as tough as your father.

Reading the documents. I totally agree. If I may..please.
My dad had left London and gone to live with an aunt in Southern Ireland. WW1 broke out and he signed up. He was just a young lad. DOB 3.7.1896. He became Private. 8515 1st Batt. Irish Guards. He was one of the first to set foot on foreign soil in WW1. He was shot. He was gassed and for a long period remained blind. At the time of being gassed, he was the sole survivor in his fox hole.

Then WW2 came along. By this time he'd married and fathered my sister, 16 yrs my senior, and then I arrived.

If Dr Remmington was still here. I'd have to say. Doc. Knowing what I now know. NO. I will never be as strong as my dad. RIP.

Your Dad was a true hero Mike, what an incredible life he had and thank goodness he survived WW1. Did he leave any diaries? You should record his precious memories.

I have my ration card from 1953 with a few unused tokens for cheese, it might come in handy if we get a second lockdown...

Totally off subject I know ( here I go again) but we found my Dad's kit bag from when he was a pilot in the RAF in WW2 yesterday. He had drawn cartoon type pics all over it as they did to personalise them. A precious find indeed.:)

Very good news for the UK from yesterday.....

                  "UK 313,798 +1,009 41,329 +20

                  1,009 new cases
and 20 new deaths in the United Kingdom. England has removed 5,377 deaths from its time series.

                  NOTE from the UK Government):

"On 17 July, the Secretary of State asked Public Health England (PHE) to urgently review the way daily death statistics are currently reported.

A review into the method used to calculate these figures considered a range of scientific evidence to identify the best time limit to apply between date of test and date of death.

The new daily measure provides a UK-wide count of deaths under a consistent methodology for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales that has been endorsed by an external review.

The measure will be based on a 28-day limit between the date of a positive lab-confirmed test and date of death. Deaths that occur more than 28 days after a positive test will not be included in the headline count."

So, no more counting those poor folk who got run over by a bus ... :yikes:

Who were pedestrians forced into the road by groups of cyclists riding on the pavement out getting their 'exercise' whilst furloughed due to Coronavirus? Hmm, seems like Coronavirus related deaths to me.

                      Great news!

Despite the UK's GDP falling 2.2% in Q1, and a further 20.4% in the last quarter, sending the UK into recession, as our GDP has fallen so flippin much, it's a dead cert that it will grow back a tiny little bit during this quarter, bringing us out of recession.

Well done Boris and Rishi :dbgrtmb:

More of the total shambles coming to light.
None of anything that has been going on or is going on makes sense.

Went to Morrisons, lots of customers not wearing masks, and lots with it only over their mouths.

Now if I worked in a shop I would not want to wear one all day.
That said, and bearing in mind the guidance is that the mask only protects others and not yourself, why am I potentially being infected by all these people who work in shops who are exempt. ;)

Yesterday afternoon neighbours were loading up their campervan to head off to France.

                              They still haven't departed.
