    Just called the doctors.
There is now a two week wait if you need to speak to a doctor over the phone, only if you state it is an emergency will they speak to you on the same day.

They ask why you are requesting a call from the doctor.

OK, I dont often buy insecticides these days as none of them seem to work on anything other than aphids, but thought I'd get a bottle of concentrate for any emergencies.
Still trying to find a legal RSM killer.

Went to the garden centre and had a look, they only had the Provado copy, Provanto, but that didn't even mention RSM.
So went somewhere else, they had Bug Clear Ultra 2, so searching the box for the actual active ingredient, this did show RSM.
After much searching I found it contained rapeseed oil????????

£8.99 for a very small bottle of rapeseed oil seemed a bit much to me, I can get a gallon in Morrisons for a fiver.

So ended up buying Rose clear, which was the only thing I could find that actually contained chemicals that stand a chance of doing the job, but rose clear contains an insecticide and a fungicide, which I didn't want, so where is the sense in that, two chemicals when I only wanted the one.

But the funniest thing I find is that none seem to claim to kill pests, they only "Control" them.
Sounds like a cop out to me and mostly expensive stuff I've already got under the sink.

It's the old Trade Description Act! No manufacturer wants to claim something they can't definitely prove. It came in around the late 60's and has been regularly updated since then - plus the changes by the EU. It was easier back before the late 19th Century when they brought in the first laws about it. :old:

          Couriers!

A couple of recent examples, one was getting a delivery confirmation that my parcel had been delivered through my letterbox, when it was a tent, and the other was claiming my 'safe place' was in the gutter outside my house.

You have got to laugh. Usually here they say there is no such address and send things back. Quite a surprise for the homeowner who has lived there for donkey's years.

A couple of years ago I was coming home at 11 p.m. and saw, on the grass verge alongside a defunct lamppost next door, a large cardboard box. I had a look at it and saw it was a delivery of fresh food from one of the menu companies. Fortunately it had a phone number on it and it was for a new couple who had moved in 400yds down the road. The instructions on the box said to ring the bell at the gate and drop the parcel over the fence.

The people collected the box and then next day complained to the company. They had received an email saying it had been delivered and the attached photo showed it on the grass verge by the lamppost!

I wish the farmer would plough the fields as we're getting fed up with the smell of the muck spreading!

WE've got it on 3 sides, to the right, to back and to the front (road) but luckly it's rained and the smell is gone

They now saying that farmer mustn't spread to close to water course's/boreholes etc but when it come's to the road it get a wee bit of a clean up then the rest gets washed into the ditch when it rain's :scratch::doh::doh:RULES :th scifD36:

But i don't mind the smell of good poo :dbgrtmb:

Did the lamp post have a number on it?

Google navigation incorrectly sends drivers across a local private country estate, and Amazon drivers must be using that app, because they drive along the private roads until they reach a remote control operated security gate and leave their parcels in the road where we find them early of a morning on dog walks and phone their security number. Sometimes they're for estate workers cottages, but often for people in villages on the other side of the estate.

Yes. In the past we always contacted the parish council if the light stopped working and it was fixed fairly quickly.

This last time, two years ago, they said it wasn't their light (apparently the repair is expensive ) and we should contact the District Council.

The District Council said it's not on their list of lampposts and we should contact the parish or the county.

The county has denied any knowledge of it and referred us back to the other two. A county road surveyor that I know said that if it's below 5 metres high then it's definitely not theirs but I haven't bothered to climb it and measure it.

The way the electricity for lights is paid is that the power company runs all of them and the relevant local authority tells them how many they have on their books and is charged accordingly.

I know that it is not lack of power going to the light so if nobody says they own it one of the neighbours said he's thinking of connecting to it and using it. :rolleyespink:

I think that the confusion is historical. The road used to be an A road and the responsibility lay with either District or County. Then the road was declassified and has no number at all. There are three lampposts in two miles of road but they are a total of 1 mile apart. Two are in one Parish and District area and the third is in another Parish and District area.

To make things more complicated the front three feet of our land is in one District Council and the rest in another :noidea:. The original boundary was where the ditch used to run. That was piped underground 50 years ago.
