        Leaves of Mirabilis jalapa are much larger ....as can be clearly seen from wiseowls pic.
        I thought it looked like a Michaelmas daisy...Aster..but may be wrong.
        If so it should flower in the autumn.
        Time will tell.

          Thank you for the suggestions. As you can see its still only just coming into bud so that may be the clue. I will look forward to seeing what it does and post a picture when it flowers. I really must remember to make a note of what I plant and where in future!
