Up at my mums/grandmas today. I slept over last night and was out in the garden by 8:30ish. Lovely weather!

My mum has been "allocated" a bottom section of the garden by my grandma. (Theyve just moved in together as my grandma needs help now). She has finally admitted that she cant cope with the "wild" section of the garden anymore. So I was out there and have dug out so many weeds and given loads of the shrubs a huge cut back.

I was just tidying stuff away and have come in when the heavens opened.

(Part way through working on it I decided to take the "before" picture)

At the back of my grandmas one of the neighbours has a bit of land that runs along the back end of my grandmas garden and it is a total dump. A councillor has been round to see them but they wont answer the door. My mum has offered to buy the extra land off them but they said maybe (about 3 years ago). They said we can cut the giant tree back so mum is getting some more tree surgeon quotes. One chap wanted £650! (Not even taking the cuttings away or chipping them)-i think he was trying to rip my grandma off. This is the utter dump at the back:

Wow that's a job!! @Snorky85 . Looking good though well done !:dbgrtmb:. We offered to buy the land at the back of us many years ago, once the farmer decided to sell his cattle... that piece of land was owned by the council, they ummed ahhhhhed ( sp?) for so long we gave up in the end.

My Heuchera cuttings are loving the rain!
          IMG_20200819_150814.jpg

The Hydrangea cuttings I took back in June from one of my parent's huge plants look as if they are alive and well .:dbgrtmb:

          IMG_20200819_150843.jpg

And one of the many rose cuttings ,also from my parent's garden is looking healthy too.:fingers crossed::fingers crossed: IMG_20200819_150904.jpg

It's so stressful trying to salvage some of Mum's beautiful plants. Just have to ensure the coming winter doesn't affect them.:fingers crossed:

Ooh your cuttings are looking good @Upsydaisy :) Ah maybe if you offered to buy the land now upsy the council might snap your hand off. They'll be hard up with the coronavirus budget pressures!

@Perki I love weeding and I've actually really enjoyed doing this garden. Makes a nice change doing someone elses garden :)

Although damp from early fog I managed to get the front lawns strimmed and mowed. I hate the mess it makes of the mower when it's wet, it takes ages to clean it up.

After extremely strong winds in the early hours of this morning I've spent this morning re-staking and in some cases completely pulling up severely damaged plants. Broken Cosmos, snapped Glads and Sunflowers ,the big Laverteras requiring additional supports too. :sad:So very disheartening ...:cry3:.and tomorrow it set to be a lot worse!!!
                            Weeded the shingled area too.
At least the weather is lovely at the moment.:dbgrtmb:

                            Re-potted a poorly looking Moth Orchid...:fingers crossed:
                            and fed all the houseplants.

Picked some toms and blackberry's, repaired mower and cut lawns.
A greenfinch flew into a window with a thud went outside and it was on the floor, it was breathing but it’s eyes were closed so put it on bird table with some food and after 1/2 hour it flew off
It’s the one in my avatar.

Also weeded the sad looking wisteria in pots by front door, never used to get weeds until next door seems to have cultivated a garden of weeds. evidently you don’t have to do anything just wait and it will appear before your eyes, I think the draw is the do nothing part it’ll only last until she losses sight of the camper van
