Hello Shiney...you know I am sure I saw your hand in the distance, but thought it was just the mind of a mad gardener going slowly more mad I’ll keep a weather-eye out for you next time!!

    Happy gardening

@Tinkerbelle61, loving the Highlands and it's history Mr S and I decided to retire here, the best move we've ever made (we've made quite a few) and wish we had done it earlier. The east coast has a lot less rain and no midges to contend with. It's a bit cooler in summer and the growing season is slightly shorter but it has bonuses and many plants can be grown here. It's about making different choices. Daylight hours are longer in summer and garden pests - what are they? No slugs, snails or vine weevil here in my garden, but we have to be careful about ticks - living rurally. That's easily solved though. Property is cheaper, oh and prescriptions for medicine are free!

Have I sold it to you yet?

No slugs or snails and no midges...really! By Jove you’ve only gone and done it! Now I just have to convince OH . Yes you’re right, it is about different choices and I feel the time is right to lay out our options and make that choice, exciting times ahead me thinks .

Thank you for the incite into the east coast, it sounds idyllic

Definitely no midges, slugs and snails depending on area. I wish you the best whatever you decide to do. I'm happy to give you more information if needed and we could do that via 'Conversation' if you'd prefer. :)

Hi @Sheal thanks for your replies and advice. We will be looking for somewhere remote, just have to decide where. We also have been watching the Devon and Cornwall program so it is looking like 5 hours drive north or south!!

Since being furloughed in March I have been walking the labradors 6 miles through the woods, along the fields and around the archeological park and back every morning. We are lucky enough to live just a few minutes walk from the woods. I would really love to still be able to walk straight from our doorstep, but would need decent broadband to work from home, yet another consideration in our master plan. And of course land to grow veg!

At least the rain has stopped here today, but I hear the wind is on its way, best get out and do my “rounds”, happy Thursday.

          Tink.
