      Good day
Another Sunday morning and the skies are grey with heavy clouds. A bit of a relief, that is, because it has been up in the 90's again.

I didn't get the pastry made yesterday as I landed up having to pull out the clothes dryer to get at the vent to see why that room is heating up. I need to buy a new collar to make a tighter connection. There was lots of fluff back there which took some time to clean. This is a very large dryer which was awkward to maneuver. So I'll buy a new collar tomorrow or Tuesday and pull the unit back out and fix that. I've stopped most of the air leakage for now so whilst the advertisements are playing during my beloved Corrie, I'll wash up the bed linens and whatever else is nailed down!

And then I can make the pastry.

I hope everyone has a pleasant day and please play safe :)

            Aloha everyone,

Had a very busy morning with people coming round for beans, plants and other things and picking beans, courgettes, blackberries and collecting another 40lb of windfall apples. We have a friends Zoom (8 of us) at 3 p.m. and a family Zoom (gang of 12) at 5 p.m.

I tried to rake the windfall pears this morning as they're getting in the way but gave up on that idea pretty sharpish when thousands of wasps came out from them :yikes:. One of the pears must have had at least 50 wasps inside it. These are Williams pears and I'm not keen on those. The Conference pears are still hanging onto the tree.

Have a good weekend and keep well

            Aloha!

@Upsydaisy I always like having a get together with friends for a casual chat and we usually meet for breakfast. It is a treat having a full breakfast and a double treat with the catch up.

It is cloudy here today and I'm happy for it as it didn't cool down much overnight so the sun would have made all that humidity much more unbearable.

My to do list is quite heavy today with lots of little things to get done and I must work on the quote for the lady I visited last week. Pricing on fabrics is constantly changing and I wanted to wait until I got today's price for the material before quoting on the job.

I did get the dough made, rolled out and cut into rounds for tarts. I made up the whole packet of lard so have enough for just over 80 tarts. I've packaged them in zip loc bags in packs of 20 and frozen three of those. Tomorrow should be cool enough for baking. I'll have your tarts ready then :blue thumb:

Have a lovely day all and do please play safe :)

Never manage to make it into town early enough for breakfast....so elevenses is what we aim for!! Try to miss the rush hour traffic.

Didn't bother with a coat ,just a brolly...didn't need it though. The rain waited until I was home!!:):dbgrtmb:

                          Aloha everyone,

The other day Mrs Shiney had a friend round for lunch with her hubby. It turns out the hubby's hobby is trains and building train sets. So I gave him a box from our loft that had been sitting up there for 48 years. It contained a 00 gauge railway with 30 sections of track, an engine, tender some carriages and all the controls. Stuck inside the lid of the box were the full instructions. We threw out the bottom of the box which had been eaten through by mice who had also left their little presents behind.

A busy day today with shopping in the morning, someone for lunch, bridge club early afternoon, chiropractor (really need it for my neck and shoulder) late afternoon then cooking for friends who are coming at 6 p.m. :phew:

                          Keep well

                          Aloha!

Very wet, windy and grey here too @Flumpy.

Your post takes me back @shiney . When my brother was young my parents assembled a train set in his bedroom. It was huge and set out permanently as a English village, everything was to scale, all the thatched cottages, shops, farm buildings, people, animals , vehicles....even had a to scale apple orchard..with apples on the trees!!!

My Dad's brother still at 93 has his trains laid out in a purpose built shed.......looks like Waterloo with all the different lines and junction points!!!! Boys will be boys!!:heehee:

Have lovely, albeit soggy, day everyone.:spinning:

                                Good day
@shiney and @Upsydaisy my friend who died a few years ago left his brother all his money and the rest of his belongings to me as his brother lives over a 1000 miles away. Part of his belongings included model railway trains and all the equipment to set them up. Most of the trains were still in their original boxes. I ended up donating most of it to a local model railroaders club. They assessed it at about 7K of your pounds!

I am meeting my friend and fellow sewist for breakfast today. Then I have to visit various stores. I need some new heads for the sprinkler system and some other bits and bobs.

I was going to mow the lawns before I left but I see that it rained awhile ago and the grass will be too wet so I hope things will be dry enough when I get back to take care of that job.

Cheers, have a lovely day and please play safe :)
