I am happy to share my excitement because my pink Angel's Trumpet has got the first ever flower at last and it is charming.
You may think that I am crazy but each new flower on any plant is a wonder for me. But with Angel's Trumpets is a different story because I have tried to grow them for several years with no success. Now when I have less and less flowers on my plants it is even more valuable.

It is lovely, like it is wearing a tutu!

My pink one is presently sulking and refuses to bloom, but is pretty when it does ...

          Lovely. Lovely! :love30:

@Black Orchid , do you grow it as a houseplant or on patio?

Apparently it's possible to grow from seeds so I'm now very tempted to try it as a houseplant. It doesn't sound as it would enjoy Newcastle climate outdoors

I find they dont actually like too much heat and tend to go dormant like Victoria says.
That said, they dont like it cold either

Two years ago I took my Brugs out into the garden. It was a hot summer in Manchester. They were severely eaten by pests.
Then I decided to grow them as house plants all year round. But last winter only one survived because of mites. Fortunately 2 cuttings survived.

You are right, Pete. I have tried to grow them for several years. Several Brugs died. And only this month after a lot of effort I see at last 2 of my Brugs blooming. That's why I am extremely excited and want to share my success with other gardeners.

Besides they like to be watered and fed on regular basis.

True, mine bloom best in our Winter between November and March but we don't go down to freezing. They rest and bloom the remaining months. This was this past February ...

Victoria, your Angel's Trumpets are amazing! I doubt that mine will ever be similar to yours. Where are you based?

Thank you @Black Orchard. I am in Algarve, Portugal. I bought this one in 2011/12 from Aldi and it was in a pot for years but now in the ground. When it does it's first flush November-ish it gets over 100 blooms ... the scent is wonderful.

Thank you Victoria for your reply. My daughter and I went to Algarve twice and were enchanted by your nature there. Now it is understandable why your Angel's Trumpet is so amazing. Over 100 blooms! Just accept my Wow! I actually started growing Brugs after I had seen them in Algarve. Mine are still very tiny. And I don't know why without any fragrance. But it is wonderful to see pictures of your plants to be encouraged in growing better plants. Thank you very much!

May I ask where you and your daughter visited Black Orchard? I am near Sao Bartolomeu de Messines near Silves.

I do a yearly link from here.

                          An Algarve Garden 2020

Years ago I actually gave weekly reports. I also did one on the beach areas called Algarvian Daze.

I am happy to advise you on plants from here but of course others on the forum would have to advise on care in the UK. I had friends who lived in Bramhalll and it was mild there. Their daughter was in Cheadle Hulme.

@Victoria - I used to live in Bramhall and worked in Cheadle Hulme. Definitely a milder part of UK. So no wonder @Black Orchid has great acacias, even in more north Manchester.

Now how coincidental is that @CarolineL! Do I remember you had/have a connection with Portugal too (near Guarda) or am I thinking of someone else?
