Just completed my LOCKDOWN project. There were days when all I could cope with was making a Granny square or two. Plenty of errors came to light on assembly but, Covid hurled quite a few at us that we all had to accept and manage as best we could.
It'll keep me cosy and warm come Winter evenings,

Love the colours Jenny. Granny Squares are fun but I dislike putting them together. I made one in America that was blue and white round flowers .... now that was a nightmare but beautiful, wish I still had it.

I do like updated painted furniture but nowadays not the effort that goes into it. T'other Half said he would do our pine bedroom suite in a sand wash (bed part wood part wrought iron), two end tables with three drawers each), dresser (3 long two short drawers) and a tall boy (6 drawers one door) ... but that was years ago. :rolleyespink: It is a big project so I don't anticipate that ever happening, although he has one of these fancy Karcher spraying gadgets. :frown:

It certainly is an effort! I asked my grandma how many layers of paint were on it and we thought at least 50 as apparently grandad gave it another coat every year! :rolleyespink:

i broke the handheld sander yesterday-id given up on the stripper and used it and then realised I was sanding with the velcro and didnt have a sanding pad on it! What an idiot! I was convinced id left a sanding pad on it! :mute:

today I'm going to do garden-cutting and sowing seeds. Need a break from the blasted chair x

I'm also going to look up the karcher gadget you're talking about! Love a gadget (when I'm
                        Not breaking them)

More crafting this afternoon...something I should have done 2 years ago now.

i took a silicone mould of my gt uncle Sammy's WW1 death penny that my grandma's cousin's daughter has. I didnt dare ask her for it but I asked her if it was ok to take a mould. I've had the mould done about 2 years now.

Finally got round to using a crystal resin kit I had bought. I've just poured it into the silicone mould-really hope it works. I used a little bit if demoulding vaseline in the mould first to make it easier to remove. Just got to wait 24hrs now....

37FCA7BF-924A-438E-A5F2-9A092FA986AC.jpeg Well this is the turnout after 24hrs ish drying, sanding down the uneven edges (the best I can) and giving it a light spraying of primer onto the clear resin.

The relief/engraving is so fine that I'm not going to brush on the paint I'd bought. I'm going to spray it a goldy/brassy colour and when that is dry I will get some darker colour and dry brush over it to age it and to make the relief/engraving more prominent.

                                that's the plan anyway

Edit: the primer dried so quickly I've given it the metallic spray now. Trip to hobbycraft tomorrow to see what other products I can use on it...
