@JR the tree had become lop sided and uneven so I decided to let it start again. I did the same to it a few years ago and it grew back nicely but I wasn't able to keep it in shape.
This time I hope to be able to keep it to a nice shape.

Got absolutely soaked three quarters of the way through mowing the front lawns, it was supposed to be dry today. I decided to carry on and finish but cleaning the lawn mower after was a messy job.

I managed to get into the garden for a while today. Grandson Josh bought me some heavy duty black sacks in. So waste not want not, all spent pots etc will be emptied into these, then I will make up my own mix, including MPC, farmyard manure and whatever else. Once done it will be thoroughly mixed and will provide a deep covering for a corner area of the garden.
Now the weather has cooled down, it will be more comfortable for me.

Ended up having a busy day in the garden yesterday as it didn't rain!

I was just going to tidy up the raised beds and remove a few of the OTT nicotiana (gosh they just don't stop going do they!). Ended up ripping them all out, reorganising the raised beds as stuff was growing too close together, planted some angel wings cuttings that had rooted well, ripped out a non productive honeysuckle (no flowers for 3 years! Useless!) And planted it one of my pear trees instead.

It is too hot out for me at 30c so preparing Geranium seeds (soaking) Scented and Black Rose Pelargonium to plant out later when the sun moves to the back. T'other Half is out power washing the awning having moved giant pots around so he will be in shortly to cool off and have a snooze.

We’ve had a quiet second half to the week, as I have to be fairly sedentary to help my pooch, who is recovering from her second stroke. Her hind legs are definitely marching to a different tune to her front legs!

Yesterday I did the Feeding Friday (thank you Monty for giving me a way to remember to do the feeding) for the 80-odd chilli plants, and the tomatoes, and a little weeding.

Today I took the plunge and started to lift the turf for the next section of the drive bed (a way of managing the steep grass bank along the drive, which is difficult to mow). I’ve lifted around 1.5m x 1.5m. A good job really, as we went a little crazy with the bulbs sale in Lidl’s. Three sacks of 2kg of daffs (1 x Dutch Master, 2 x a dainty apricot called “replete”), I think around 36 alliums, some crocuses, some miniature iris, some tulips, and lots of narcissi. I’m going to be busy planting them all!!

I also tidied one of the dwarf-leaves marjoram plants, and cut back the tarragon that was planning a takeover bid through the lemon thyme. The tarragon stems are now standing in water, and leaves will be cleaned from the stems and frozen.

edited as I’ve just remembered I also cleared the french guttering for the top 1/3 of the roof, as it was solid with moss and leaves. Probably around 1/2 gallon (don’t you just love my “change-over mind” when it comes to measurements, metric vs imperial?!!) of stuff was flicked out of the guttering by leaning out of one of the dormer windows and stretching out with a Dutch hoe. I think that counts as a “job in the garden”?!!

The Passion flower stems were tied into the new trellis along the north-east wall of the house. Already covering well over 50cm of trellis...

I went out from 3-6pm and it was quite pleasant so I got my Geranium (Scented and Black Rose) seeds sown and stared at the naked garden. T'other Half had moved the Strelitzia nicholai to the other side of the patio over the cisterna to hide the lane a bit. But now I want him to turn it 180 degrees so I look at the front of the leaves and take the dead Morning Glory out of the Jacaranda trunk. :rolleyespink:

Regarding the lightpost, every house in the country has their own light ... bit of an eyesore and the light is bright at night (yellowish sodium) hence us planting a tree to hide it.

I got the drill, bits, and pliers out of the Garage and having bought training wire, big screws, and wire tensioners, I drilled 4 holes into the South facing rear wall of the Garage, (two at either end of about 20 feet, one below the other), put in some plastic plugs and then screwed in the four screws. It was easy enough to cut the training wire, put the tensioners onto each of the hooks, insert the wire and then bend the wire to stop it coming off the tensioners as I tightened them to take out most of the slack of the wire. All this was so that the Wisteria

I put the Wisteria into the large pot earlier this year after I'd let it sit, basically abandoned, for several years in a medium size pot and it has bloomed and has been growing steadily which tells me it's happy where it is. So, hopefully, next year the Wisteria will grow along the wall and hang it's blooms down over the Bearded Iris......something else in the garden to look forward to.:hapydancsmil::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
