Why are the Europeans so desperate to keep the British fish resources.
Because they know whats coming. And whats that ?
Fish population collapse on a massive scale never seen before.
The north Pacific is dying and already dead in places due to Fukushima. Fish stocks have collapsed in the South china sea due to massive over fishing. The Chinese are ready to go to war to secure their future fish supplies especially now having lost millions of pigs to plague.
There isnt much fishing left worldwide hence the importance of this little islands fishing grounds.
Food, water and shelter first. The rest is a luxury.

For fear or favour. I have to admit, single malt has very little taste for me. I have a tipple or two, er...perhaps a drop more on retiring at night. I find drinking it neat is a bit too much now, so I prefer to have water with a dash or more of the spirit. I admit I am a man of some spiritual upstanding, so keeping up my faith is of the highest importance. Hand on heart. In all of my eighty years. I have never been drunk. Sshh! I'm too damned scared, having seen others suffer.
During medical studies, being a bit crafty. I have learned that the amber liquid helps to keep the arteries clear. Ooops I miss out the bits about liver damage, if abused.

                      So everything in moderation.

So it's OK to break laws if you find an acceptable way of doing it?

Mountains out of mole hills comes to mind.

I presume its the usual stumbling block, backstop rubbish.
