      @Scrungee
Mentioning green tomatoes. Is there anything I can do with mine that you'd recommend apart from ripening indoors? Dread the thought of throwing them away

Slice and fry them, or make chutney (I don't make chutney anymore as it has too much sugar in it).

N.B. Keep green tomatoes away from dogs as they are poisonous for them.

Cut the plants off at ground level, remove leaves and hang the whole thing up in an airy shed or garage .

@Scrungee I have started following your process for saving tomato seeds, I am at the stage of them being in pots with lukewarm water, do I put the lids on the containers for 2-3 days or leave them uncovered please?

          Thanks

Depends how many fruit flies (AKA wine flies) you have around. At the moment with the amount of apple pressing I'm doing in the garden and tubs of pulp hanging around waiting to be taken to my plot I've got quite a few crafty one indoors that hang onto the outside of the back door until I open it, so I would currently cover to prevent the tomato seed pots becoming wine fly traps.

Thanks @Scrungee , lids on, labelled and in the potting shed. It can get warm in there but the door is open in the day and it has no window (I call it my potting shed as I’ve always wanted one but have a little 2’x3’x6’ with shelving and a work shelf so I can pretend I’m in the “potting shed”) they should be okay in there. Will check them regularly :) Thanks again, I’m very excited for the next step!

Anyone know what this fellow might be?

We are saving a load of seeds, but most of our jungle is label-less, and I cannot remember what this one was:

That is known as a strawberry shaped tomato, a google search for that should find several varieties.

Oh Happy Day can produce them that shape which is different to the illustrations on seed packets:

Hmmmm, it would appear to be a German strawberry variety - do not remember buying it though

I've grown German Strawberry and they are a large beefsteak variety. I think most of mine were over a pound. Does that sound like yours?

Oh, not that then - it comes up as Tomatoberry, but I think that is one of those made up sort of names; even that doesn't ring a bell in terms of me buying it, but then I am terrible when it comes to seeds.....

These ones are only wee tiddlers - not all that much bigger than a strawberry really

I've grown those (Wyevale 50p seed sale purchase) and yours looked the wrong colour. They grow exactly as the illustrations on the packets, and are that glossy

Oooh, not a clue what they are then. I know we were growing Marmande, Gigante, Craigella, Black Krim, Tigerella and little yellow tear-drop ones that I was kindly given by @Sian in Belgium - otherwise, I have no idea

Mine are still extremely happy, the last few weeks we had such good weather, all considered..
Also some have grown over 10 feet, which was a bit surprising.
Actually I am struggling to find a use for all the tomatoes, our freezer is small and already crammed with bolognese sauce to the brim..
I do have a dehydrator, do I will give that a go tomorrow I think.

However, I see that the weather is turning bad and cold. Mine are all outdoor, so I guess it is time to trim the tops and call it a season.
