We have one good neighbour and one that nobody likes. We don't have any trouble with him but he is just an unpleasant person and his wife is worse. :noidea:

Yesterday nice neighbour chatted to me, down by the compost heap :heehee:, and felt comfortable enough to ask me for some apples and rhubarb. :) We get on well.

I guess I must be lucky in that there are only 6 Houses in the Grove and everyone of them are really good.

Well, to round things off, it has washed its last..... the leak is coming from the tub itself (or the strip where the door rubber is glued onto it) which would require major surgery on a 12 year old machine and no guarantee of it actually fixing the problem. Ho hum. Samsung won the battle for the replacement, purely down to their 5-year warranty - arriving Sunday.

Yesterday was forcast to be the last sunny spell of the week so i got out into the garden to do some shed maintenance.
Before long I'd caught my hand on a nail.
Despite blood leaking i managed to find the first aid box all by myself.
I took out the box of sticking plasters and attempted to unwrap one.
Blood started to flow.. WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO UNWRAP!!
I needed someone intelligent so i went into the kitchen.
Mrs Ewing was busy preparing lunch, but she calmly put down her wooden spoon, unwrapped a plaster and i was mended.
Those plaster boxes should have large instructions on the side.
They usually have print so small that I'd need to go and fetch reading glasses..
The box should warn the public that they are likely to 'lose at least one pint of blood unwrapping a plaster or your money back' :wallbanging:

I buy that cloth elasoplast, the stretchey kind , and wrap that round on top of the plaster.
Or some times you can get it in lengths with the lint part in the middle, you can then cut off what width you like.

I have a moan, if that is Okay

I hope it is not too long but it covers a protracted period of time.

It relates to ebay and their postal/courier service and a buyer.

I bought a Hi-Fi stacking item c44 years ago from Laskys when they were all the rage with Hi-Fi, selling individual items for sound units, Speakers, record decks. tuners, amps etc, which has now become a collectable Item and has a considerably high price as it is in unmarked condition and in perfect working order.

I listed the item on ebay for £399.99 plus postage plus insurance cover for loss or damage. It sold so quickly I thought I had listed it at too lower price.

I was surprised to find there was so much interest, there were over 320 hits and 17 watchers, I lost count of the messages I received, there were the usual questions, are there any marks on it, is it in perfect working order, one guy even wrote “I have the same item but it is not working I thought of buying yours and selling mine”, it was a bit of a rare commodity and sought after for what it is.

Just several days passed and the item sold, I packed it up and posted it off through Packlink, a branch of ebay, contracted to UPS as the courier.

A few days after the item was delivered I received a message from the buyer saying that the item did not work and that it must have been damaged in transit, I could not come to terms with this because the item was packed in a box with 2” of purpose cut polystyrene all the way around, but the procedure was followed for it to be returned.

This all happened during the height of the covid19

I opened a claim with the courier UPS, after 10 days they came back and said they wanted to view the item with all the packaging intact at the recipients address, I passed this information on to the buyer who said he wasn’t waiting he was sending it back immediately for his refund.

A week later I received the item, I contacted UPS again who then informed me that I had to make the claim with Packlink.

I started a claim with them who replied that the time limit of 10 days had passed so the claim was invalid, so the price I paid for insurance cover came to nothing.

Meanwhile I took a closer look at the item to find out what the fault was when I noticed that the securing screws had been tampered with, I took a screwdriver and removed the screws and took the top off to find that the whole of the internal components had been changed.

I suddenly had this irritating discomfort from past messages for some reason, I looked back at the member who sent the message
I have the same thing but it is not working I thought of buying yours and selling mine
to my absolute shock and horror I discovered that it was the same ebay member who bought my item and returned it as ‘not working’

I contacted ebay and explained what the buyer had done but they replied that they had to stay impartial and that there was no proof of this so they could do nothing.

                        The outcome:

UPS say the claim has to be dealt with by Packlink.

Packlink will not cover this with the insurance I had paid for as damaged in transit.

                        ebay are not interested.

I lost the genuine item I had sent, the shipping charges to the buyer, the shipping charges for the return from the buyer, plus the cost of the insurance cover and now I have an item which sold for £399.99 which no longer works and is worth nothing.

What a shabby trick by all of them.

                          @weedaway

I would be so incensed at this that I would print everything, document everything and go to the Police. In the scheme of things to the Police it is small fry but it is also Fraud non the less. Im assuming you have the address of the person who bought it from you and that it will match with the email account on ebay that said they had a faulty item the same as yours? The Police are very 'hot' at present on any kind of internet related fraud. The local station to the person in question might visit said person for a 'word'. Its amazing how some people cave in at the sign of a uniform. You could email through ebay the criminal and inform them of your intention to involve the Police and copy it to ebay in the @report a buyer' section. Maybe include the fact of the possibility of fingerprints on the innards??? not that I think for one minute the police would go that far but the idea of it just might prompt a refund. Im so sick to death of being conned and ripped off by people I tend to dig my heals in these days. This person has stolen from you. I just couldnt let them get away with it. Good Luck and Id love to know how you get on.

That is outrageous. I've sold items on ebay but anything expensive I'll clearly state "collection only"
Even then you need to be careful.. My son in law had an ebay buyer come to view his car which he was selling.
Four thugs turned up and tried to bully him into dropping the price.
                            You have my sympathy.
