Well, someone used the word Draconian You might much rather have four weeks of total shutdown but how would you intend to deal with the people, from all walks of Life, who would disagree and disobey your total lockdown should you be able to try to enforce it. Jail them?, as fines would be ineffective due to the time to enforce them.
We can't even get individuals to listen to the National Protocols of Wash your hands, wear a Mask, keep your distance, so how do you get the individuals who think there's no such thing as COVID 19, or it's a conspiracy to take our democratic rights away, or those people who don't give a damn, or just like criticising and muddying the waters for the joy of it
Every country has had to learn from scratch about COVID 19 and all have made mistakes on the way, the people on the street of all those countries have been split on whether or not they should follow the constantly changing advice.
We seem to think that Governments should be able to fire the correct, long lasting solutions straight from the hip straight from the start but, even if they could, certain sections of the public would still think there's no COVID 19, the action being asked for them to do is wrong, or it's not for them to listen to and follow.
We have a situation of being a Nation of devolved Governments, each of whom can decide their own ways of tackling the COVID 19, add to that the practice of local lockdown, our democratic right to question, criticise, deny, confuse, and refuse to obey and then things aren't so simple as we believe them to be. But we still believe that simple, long lasting solutions that all people will follow can be offered while still not, ourselves, offering any.
We have a critical situation in all four Nations within the UK where the infection rates is rising dramatically along with, tragically, the number of deaths. Is it the various Governments fault, or is it the fact that we, the people, are not listening because we think we are right, and the Governments are wrong?........a long, revered, British belief which, in this case, is costing lives.
