We only normally have a pair of Magpies but a herd of them flew in early this morning. There were about a dozen of them.

A murmuration of Starlings bashed your balls.

                  It sounds painful!

                    A parliament, surely?

I still say this and if I see one, I then look around hastily hoping to see a second and get away from any woe coming my way.

                    One for sorrow,
                    Two for joy,
                    Three for a girl,
                    Four for a boy,
                    Five for silver,
                    Six for gold,
                    Seven for a secret,
                    Never to be told.
                    Eight for a wish,
                    Nine for a kiss,
                    Ten for a bird,
                    You must not miss
                    Eleven is worse
                    Twelve for a dastardly curse.

Can't be a parliament as parliament is distancing! :loll:

They had to be a herd as they seem to have herd immunity

Took a photo of this but I have absolutely no idea what it is, would anybody be kind enough to tell me? Can't remember ever seeing one before and insects fascinate me!

My bird feeding station is up and running after a three week break due to the finch disease. It seems to have taken it's toll on the Chaffinches. I was seeing at least a dozen Chaffinches together, that number has dwindled to just three, two males and one female. Although it only seemed to be affecting those, I've not seen any Greenfinches. I suspect also that a female Yellowhammer may be infected. I've only seen her once but she had the tell tale signs around her beak and seemed listless. Sorry, the image isn't very clear.

                                IMG_5795.JPG

I'm keeping a close eye on all visiting birds and hope there won't be any more with signs of the disease. All other birds are visiting as normal and seem healthy.
