    I'm normally a social girl
I love to meet my mates
But lately with the virus here
We can't go out the gates.

You see, we are the 'oldies' now
    We need to stay inside
If they haven't seen us for a while
They'll think we've upped and died.

They'll never know the things we did
    Before we got this old
    There wasn't any Facebook
    So not everything was told.

We may seem sweet old ladies
    Who would never be uncouth
But we grew up in the 60s -
If you only knew the truth!

There was sex and drugs and rock 'n roll
    The pill and miniskirts
We smoked, we drank, we partied
    And were quite outrageous flirts.

Then we settled down, got married
    And turned into someone's mum,
    Somebody's wife, then nana,
Who on earth did we become?

We didn't mind the change of pace
    Because our lives were full
But to bury us before we're dead
Is like a red rag to a bull!

So here you find me stuck inside
    For 4 weeks, maybe more
    I finally found myself again
Then I had to close the door!

    It didnt really bother me
    I'd while away the hour
I'd bake for all the family
But I've got no bloody flour!

    Now Netflix is just wonderful
    I like a gutsy thriller
    I'm swooning over Idris
    Or some random sexy killer.

At least I've got a stash of booze
    For when I'm being idle
There's wine and whiskey, even gin
    If I'm feeling suicidal!

So let's all drink to lockdown
    To recovery and health
    And hope this bloody virus
    Doesn't decimate our wealth.

We'll all get through the crisis
And be back to join our mates
Just hoping I'm not far too wide
To fit through the flaming gates!

Corona virus doesn't have a patch on foot and mouth, when we looked out of our windows we could see 160 dead cows and after 2 weeks the smell of them rotting :sick0026:

        Here you go:

Guidance "against all but essential travel” for Liverpool city region and other areas - during the first wave the Technical Advisory Cell said the spread of the virus to North Wales followed the “major routes from England …. from Chester and Liverpool”.

I'm slowly getting marooned here in Cheshire with surrounding restrictions coming into effect. I need to take a trip to Baslow in Derbyshire to visit where my Father and Brother rest, so I'll have to do that next week.

It doesn't actually work like that.
You sheid the vulnerable, you don't use them as bait .

You allow the fit and healthy to be exposed but in a controlled way.
If you can't see that that is what basically going on your missing the point.

Since when, at any time, pete, has any Government, or Country, managed to control any aspect of the COVID 19 for any length of time, where it can be called "controlled", without it spreading into vulnerable areas?:doh:
In the UK it's showing up in localised areas without any warning and we can't predict where it will go so I think you're ignoring/missing the point that trying to have a "controlled" way of "opening the Dam" will mean even more loss of Life........which is fine, if you or your family is not one of the Hundreds of Thousands/Millions affected and losing their loved ones.:dunno:

This herd immunity business is all about stopping the spread of the virus - if someone has immunity and infected then they will kill the virus and not pass it on - thereby stopping it spreading. Problem is identifying who can reasonably safely be exposed to the virus. I wonder if this is why we have seen a large increase in infections without a corresponding increase in deaths - because the young un's are the ones being infected? Is herd immunity already happening? Or is because we have simply ramped up the number of tests and we have been previously under reporting the number of infections.

This is why the young will be the last to get the vaccine - front line workers then elderly/vulnerable and then the youngsters.

I've said it before - it takes very little effort to control the virus - we're in this postiion because people just can't be bothered.

Lockdown is the method and only method they have of control.
Students are pretty much under lockdown, why because the trickle of cases have become more than they want to cope with, likewise northern areas where it is spreading fast have had special measures imposed on them, what is that if it is not a control??
It will be for a short time, then when cases fall things will be opened up again.

Control the virus has always been the motto. Opening the dam as you call it,is just what they are trying not to do.
Stop it dead is impossible. A controlled exposure, the check being lockdowns.

It will spread to vulnerable people if they dont take precautions, its down to the vulnerable to do what they think is right.

But the devolved Governments, regional councils, local councils are doing that now where ever it pops it's head up, so your solution is what they are doing now:dunno: Some areas in Manchester have been locked for 5 months and yet the infection rate is still rising. So, the evidence is that lockdowns are limited in their effect and that a "controlled" way is already being practised unless you propose a more stronger method of a "controlled" way. This Virus is here, we know, to stay, and the seeming way to try to keep the infection rate down is the way the Authorities are now practicing......so it's good to know your solution is the same as various devolved Governments and local Authorised in their practice of Lockdowns where needed.

Its not my solution its their solution, I'm just pointing out what is going on.

Lockdown when the cases get too high, if the cases stay at a trickle then things carry on, its not my idea its what they are doing.
                  That is, controlling the virus.:wallbanging:

I agree, pete, but the Lockdowns are designed to stop further infections not to spread it in a controlled way to gain Herd Immunity. Those who have been near those with COVID 19 are supposed to be contacted and told to isolate so that itself won't contribute to Herd Immunity.

So, even if cases in a local area are at a low rate, infected people are locked down along with anyone who's been near them.......so that is not controlled infection to gain Herd Immunity, nor is it intended to be:dunno:

There is, however, already a number of people who are disregarding the basic rules and they can, and will, spread the Virus until they're caught........but that could contribute towards Herd Immunity if you accept that Immunity would be permanent and not temporary, otherwise we are faced with a continuing cycle of infection and reinfection.:wallbanging::dunno:

Immunity will probably be as long as it is with flu, next year a new mutation, likewise any vaccine they might possibly come up with.
By the time they come up with a vaccine it will have probably mutated.
