Not saying this is right, but when i was 18 or so i would have been seeing my girlfriend one way or another..
When yer young it's more fun if your told not to, or 'it's not allowed'
Surely it can't be realistic to expect all the youngsters to stay home watching game of thrones night after night..

 

I was a policeman in central London in the 60's. OK young and old alike did make the best of what pleasures were available but, once again the media played a big part in looking at life through a magnifying glass and bolstering up the numbers of convictions etc.

All these present day restrictions albeit at times for our benefit. I truly believe that people, young and old will suffer a much different mindset in the future.

 

Random, consistent testing is not about catching who has it. It's about studying how the virus behaves. For example, if the ONS tested 10 000 household with kids before the schools opened, and after, they might observe if the kids did catch it, and crucially, if they spread it to other household members or not. This kind of understanding would help with decisions on school closures.

In the end, it's a living, mutating thing so any conclusion is just a guess but the more data we have, the more educated that guess will be.

 

Yeah I get that but it all seems a bit much doing random testing when there aren't enough test for the people with symptoms.
I think it's fairly obvious that opening up universities and schools is going to spread it, just like opening up anything, the more you open up the more it will spread, the more you close down the less it will spread, you dont have to be a scientist to work that out.
