Over here there are fireworks over the May24 (Victoria day weekend) , Canada Day Weekend, Labour Day weekend (first Monday in Sept), and then a few at New Years though those are rarely done privately.

Guess our low lifes spend their money on cigarettes instead!

Had a frustrating morning at the court. After arriving very early and first in line, was told they changed the rules due to '19 and they were accepting no paperwork. All of the documents have to be notarized, scanned into PDF's and then emailed. Wait 48 hours to see if you can then go ahead and serve them. Then notarize, scan....

Used to be able to present the paperwork, get an official stamp, swear an oath and then ... now it costs for everything.

Then everybody knows that if your printer's doc feeder is out of order and without an expensive adobe app, the scans of all of the paperwork, including various photostats, cannot be done in one file without an adobe app which costs $120 plus tax, you have to go and pay for the file to be converted for transmission as one file and not segmented.

Of all the g d messes...

      Rant over :rolleyespink:

Our county town has put up the Christmas lights ... white fairy light "curtains" down the palm tree trunks lining the main road! :rolleyespink: Don't know when they turn them on ... but they keep them up through February at least.

The quality of some Trip Advisor reviews is leaves a lot to be desired.

Does this reviewer mean they were so outraged by the parking charges that it brought on a transient ischaemic attack, or did they mean doing something naughty to warm himself up?

Rottweilers terrify me, they had them in a secure compound next to my place of work years ago.
When they ran against the chain link fence it would bow out as if a tractor had hit it.
Their jaws and teeth are horrific especially before din dins time..

@weedaway I'm trying to figure out just why anyone would do this? Do his other neighbours suffer the same abuse?

I've never heard of a gag order being placed on anyone other than for media not being allowed to mention minor victims in assault cases or the perpetrator if their identity will lead to the identity of the victim. Seems the law your side of the pond caters to pettiness and absolute silliness. I'd be interested to know the form which this gag order was placed. Was it a court order?

Why does he do these things?
                    Is there a motive?
does he want you to sell up?
All seems a bit strange to me.

My favourite Tripadvisor review, can't find it now, was one for the Turquoise hotel in Olu Deniz Turkey.
We went to the hotel in August (Turkey!!!) It was too hot and all the staff spoke foreign. Won't be going back!

This can't be right - your garden is private property - you can record whatever happens in your own property - or on public property for that matter.

If the Police won't help - have you considered taking civil action against your neighbour? One of these 'no win no fee' solicitors perhaps?

I'm afraid that if someone broke through my fence and was wandering around - they would need a very good reason to avoid a meeting with Lucille.

The Law doesn't allow private surveillance onto other peoples property, without their permission, or onto public places.:dunno: But I can't understand why the police would take away any surveillance cameras on private property or not use any record of trespass or threatening as evidence.

Not sure about this . As I understand it there is no 'right to privacy' if you are walking down the street. So if someone for security reasons points a camera at their car on the driveaway and the camera takes in the public highway beyond the car - then this is OK. I have a dash cam in my car - they're OK...

Council's have banks of monitors attached to cameras - they all look at public property.

Now pointing a camera at someone on their own property - that's an entirely different matter...

Don't mix up surveillance cameras on private property with people taking images of private land/dwellings while on public ground, clanless.
There have been several cases in the past where a Security Guard has wrongly tried to stop a person in public areas from taking images of private land/dwellings. The General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act (2018) state quite clearly on where the use of private/domestic surveillance cameras can be in breach of those Regulations and Act.
So, people taking images of private land and dwellings can take those images legally if they are standing on public ground. But it's the reverse for domestic users of Surveillance Cameras in that they must ensure that cameras do not record images of public areas, such as streets etc, and also any surrounding private property or land.
Authorities are themselves monitored by the Home Secretary's Office and have to comply with several Acts passed by Parliament. Some Police Forces were forced to stop using Facial Recognition software as it was regarded as having contravened the Privacy Act especially as they hadn't asked for formal permission.

I'm afraid not, clanless, that is not a loop hole that is legal. Cameras can only be used to cover a car on a driveway and must not take in any public area. Any person using cameras to cover their car(s) parked on the street are also in breach of the 2018 Act.
Some Pubs/Restaurants and Hospitals use surveillance cameras with Vehicle Licence Plate recognition software to apply penalties on those misusing their car parks but have to have permission and a local Authority Licence.

I've seen cases where police have asked for camera footage of the street outside of a property.
I've even seen pictures of murderers leaving premises, in the street, on home CCTV, used as evidence to convict a person.
