I thought he looked a bit puffed after going up the steps to the terrace when he made his little speech.

He says he is very fit and as fit as a 40 year old. If he's as fit as I was when I was forty I feel sorry for him!

The numbers rising is 'cases' though - - the mortality rate is not rising at a similar rate.... The seven day rolling average for deaths is 52 (and that is rounded up), and whilst any death is an absolute tragedy, that is 0.0000008% of the population. How many people are now dying from untreated cancer or heart & circulatory issues?

As for the 'Protect the NHS' mantra - if that is the case, why are they dismantling the Nightingale Hospitals, espcially as we are heading into winter and they are telling us that this virus is going to kill us all if we have a pint of beer or dare to socialise?

A lot more 'cases' because there's a lot more testing..
As FC says there's not a high death rate from those cases.
I can't help thinking that the ten o clock curfew is not helping.
(All those drinkers spilling out on to the streets at the same time in a party atmosphere).
It's possibly better to have the pubs staying open and using social distancing.
Drinkers would leave in a more dispersed fashion and congregate less.

For the avoidance of any doubt, I have just downloaded the government's own statistics as a CSV format which I will happily share with anyone that wants it via email, or you can download it here - Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK

The rolling seven day average for the WHOLE of the UK, is 43, with the total for the entire week being 301. Bearing in mind that this is deaths that mention Covid, and the criteria there is that if someone has had a positive test within the prior 28 days, it is recorded as a Covid related death. they may be 120 and riddled with cancer, or be 50 and get his by a steamroller...

As I said above, every death is a tragedy, but to destroy our country and our world on the back of figures like these is just nuts.

I don't think you are - anyone who cannot see that there is another agenda at play needs to give their head a wobble to be honest.

Its sounding like any further lockdown, local or otherwise is going to get some opposition this time round.
They made a statement that pubs etc are thought to be responsible for 30% of new cases, so they will be thinking of shutting them down in certain areas.
Ok. but I'd be more inclined to find out where the other 70% of new cases are coming from?

A blind man on a dark night without a stick or dog can see it is schools - happens every year, kids go back to school and it is snottery noses all round and they quite effectively transmit every bug going back to their parents and grandparents. Pubs and restaurants were open right through the summer, Covid rates didn't rise - schools go back, all hell breaks loose.
