I cook them in the pressure cooker two at a time, it takes less time, my mom always bought a xmas pudding, my mother in law taught me how to make them, also how to make jam and marmalade.

Sadly my moms mom died when my mom was young so she didn't learn how to cook, she learned it when she got married to my dad and they had to live with dads sister until they got a council house, in the 1950's had to have 2 children before they could get one.

 

You've made me feel quite young today @Mike Allen because I've never encountered a silver thruppeny bit.
(i thought surely he means a silver sixpence)
I had to google it, and sure enough there had been such a specimen.
I only remember the later 12 sided chubby one's in the 60's.
.. One was enough for a good bag of sherbert lemons.

Just had some bad news, this afternoon my friend Keith passed away, he had a heart attack.

He was stressed out about his carers trying to get him to use a hoist to get him out of bed,he was so against it that it caused him to have a relapse and this morning was in intensive care, then had a heart attack but they couldn't bring him back.

 

@Logan I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I lost a dear friend a few years back who also needed a lift to get him out of his bed and he absolutely hated the process. It may work well but it is very essy to make a mistake and cause injury so I understand his stress every time the thing was needed. And it seems to be so undignified for them too.

Agree with Lori, hoists need to be used by very competent operators to not only avoid injury but to give confidence to the user. My brother was ( in his day) a competitive swimmer, and has kept up with swimming despite his deteriorating mobility, but the recent refurbishment of our local leisure centre has seen a new hoist installed that really caused him distress and has sadly put him off going now.

It's terrible for my friend Marion, she's his daytime carer and drops in anytime during the day and night if needed, she's in shock at the moment, she's got to do all the arranging. She's got to send his chair back and the bed, don't know about his car and she's got tell his sister and brother who's older than him, their details are probably on his computer but Marion doesn't know how to use it, my hubby will help he.her with that.

There's a lot of his card making stash and a die cutting machine, I was helping him with his cards and i was doing a few myself but there's no way i could keep it going myself.

I'll miss going there every Saturday.

 

Thank you @Victoria I know that he was in his late 70s and yes i shall miss doing the cards.

 

Found out that he was 71.

 

Cleaned the bird table and filled up the sunflower seed feeders,put seed on the bird table and made some bird cake, filled a empty margerine tub with it and hung it up by the bird table.

 

Been over to my parents house to check on the pond....the garden looks sad now.

 

Watched this
