I think I worded that incorrectly. The positive ones are patients, not employees. Not all positive cases are hospitalised here, only isolated, so someone still has to take care of the patient and our thought is it may as well be a positive rather than a negative person. :dunno:

As far as the cleaners go, I guess they wear "hazmat" suits or, like the couple of times I was in isolation in hospital the normal daily Auxilliary staff cleaned my room, geared up as were my normal nurses. I had to have disposable dinnerware too.

Just saying, when affected folk need daily care, don't put someone unaffected in the line of fire.

I think the issue here is if any of it was done while they were not on break. If so, its potentially a serious matter. If not, I genuinely can't see the problem and think its a non-issue.

Far too coordinated to have been done on a break. As I say, I am not even against a bit of larking around when they are not on a break, as long as patients are cared for and everyone is safe, there is no harm in having a laugh.

I think out of every disaster there comes some fun time, if you dont, you go crazy, you have to switch off and do something stupid.

When it's all over you remember the fun times as well, ask anyone who went through the blitz, though not many left now.

Probably missed the gist of this.

I totally agree that 12 hour shifts should be a no-go in any job. For instance nowadays the hospital staff and police, rarely have canteens anymore. So if a break is available, then those involved have to queue up with everone else. So there is no break from the maddening crowd etc. Same with the police.

Then there's what we divulge on here.??

Always have been disturbed by the restrictions in principle, I just accepted them as the lesser of two evils. I still do, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about them, never have been. I think there is a narrative that people are either gleeful supporters of the restrictions, or deluded covidiots breaching them whenever possible. The reality for me is not so cut and dried. Its like being in favour of military action but acknowledging the brutal reality - my support is not celebratory or naive, but deeply reluctant and troubling. Every day, in every way, it calls into to question the sincerity of many of my deepest held beliefs. As to these latest rules in themselves, though, I do think there is an absurdity and even a cruelty about some them, though no doubt unintentional.

Unpopular opinion: the government are doing the best they can in dealing with this unprecedented pandemic, and while they have made mistakes their approach has basically been to try and stem infections and deaths. The current measures are an attempt to balance the need for action, and to minimise disruption, loss of liberty and economic woe. Contrary to social media perception, there are no blindingly obvious, concrete, easy alternatives that haven't been unpacked and found to have gaping flaws. People who always hated Boris or the Tories prefer to assume the worst and it makes people feel better to retreat into their comfort zone of just attacking the government, but the truth is there is no political party in the UK right now that seems to have the leaders or the policies to grapple with this any better, or to even agree among themselves.

NB - I've never voted Tory and have no plans to do so, so this isn't confirmation bias. I just go over this every day and come to the same conclusions.
