I haven't seen as many butterfly's on my buddleia either for the past few years , I reckon it may have something to do with the warmer winters :noidea: buddelia flowering earlier than usual . No problem for the Eupatorium PBush though , they are defiantly not suitable for pots require plenty of moister.

Well, last year, if you remember, was a fantastic year for Painted Lady Butterflies and I had several hundred swarming every day in the garden although it was late July when they turned up.
I think it was due to the warm winds bringing them from the Continent. But, as you say, this year was the reverse and I probably saw one or two plus the odd Peacock Butterfly.

Zanthoxylum laetum Related to Sichuan pepper and Prickly ash, young foliage has a lovely colour. However very spikey and the foliage has a strong smell when brushed against.

@Victoria that's the common wild Verbascum Mullein. It looks good like that as it is its new growth after having been cut down from its 12ft height.

If you want them in a nicer and more manageable height then you want to get V. chaixii. It comes in white (with a cerise eye) which we have lots of, and yellow and orange. It may, possibly, come in other colours but I'm not sure. Our chaixii usually reach about 4ft in height.

@Logan that's the one I showed in my picture :blue thumb:. The bees and pollinating insects go mad over them.

As an early riser you would get the best view of the pollinators as they seem to come in their thousands just around sunrise.

@ Upsydaisy Lovely photos as always from your Garden of Eden. What is the blue plant in Photo 4 please, and is that a red one in Photo 3? Is it Salvia? If so, I got one on Monday and it is drooping over but starting to stand up. They came in a cage support but all of them looked droopy.
