What's Looking Good In October 2020

Well, last year, if you remember, was a fantastic year for Painted Lady Butterflies and I had several hundred swarming every day in the garden although it was late July when they turned up.
I think it was due to the warm winds bringing them from the Continent. But, as you say, this year was the reverse and I probably saw one or two plus the odd Peacock Butterfly.

Choisya is still happily flowering again






Liriopes are doing well all over the garden - in full sun or heavy shade




Yellow tree peony seeds are ready



and this Hebe is still in full flower and has flowered non-stop since March 2019

@Victoria that's the common wild Verbascum Mullein. It looks good like that as it is its new growth after having been cut down from its 12ft height.

If you want them in a nicer and more manageable height then you want to get V. chaixii. It comes in white (with a cerise eye) which we have lots of, and yellow and orange. It may, possibly, come in other colours but I'm not sure. Our chaixii usually reach about 4ft in height.

@Logan that's the one I showed in my picture . The bees and pollinating insects go mad over them.

As an early riser you would get the best view of the pollinators as they seem to come in their thousands just around sunrise.
