Painted the inside of the two anderson shelter panels in Hammerite white. This was much runnier than the black and so not so much fun to paint.

not done any "gardening" as such.

Some cat's really know what they're doing. Mrs Shiney was having a back massage and he took over!

Handful of cat treats is much cheaper than a massage. Hope Mrs. S felt better.

            Really lovely day here today.

Daughter Amanda came over, unable to park in the disabled bay. Binmen had placed several wheelie bins in the bay.

Anyway I enjoyed the chat and a cuppa. We are going to Pollhill tomorrow. Nice garden ceneter and farm shop, very good butchers also. Amanda is getting a supply of shin of beef, for her steak & ale pies.

Late I managed to force my way into the workshop, loads of conifer needles everywhere. Long time since I've been in the workshop, loads of cobwebs and some very latge 'arries' spiders. Had to repair the grass rake and a a modified dutch hoe. Must try and get in there and tidy up. Some while back, had an infestation of young rats in there. The poison worked, and a pile I had left down, hasn't been touched. Strange isn't it. The familiar smells associated wth sheds and greenhouses.

I know the feeling FC. I love carnations but have never managed to grow anything acceptable. I used to grow sweet peas annd have to say. I always found the older varieties best, somehow, as with many newer introductions over the plant range, my findings are that not all are stayers.

Definitely the best cut for pies, stews and casseroles. Very underrated nowadays. :noidea:

Re-potting up 100's of tete-a-tete, other mini daffs into 70mm pots in fresh MPC, and full sized daffs into Morrisons' ex-flower buckets. These will be kept in a polytunnel and used when planting up Spring containers, window boxes, baskets, etc., brought indoors when in bloom, or given away (when's 2021 Easter?). The full size daffs will be for cut flowers.

Dug up some of my smaller dahlias but left the large ones in the ground. I've put the tubers in
boxes in the shed covered in straw and the ones in ground mulched with compost and straw.

I divided two large phormiums which were suffering from the wet weather. I split them and potted them up. Not sure whether to cut the leaves to a third or to leave them tall and dangly:biggrin:

Dug up large clumps of scented leaved geraniums which go mad around the garden. I like them but they can be very invasive.

Next week we're having some trees cut down in readiness for a new fence so fingers crossed for some decent weather.:spinning:

Did some weeding and planted some more polyanthus, nearly come to the end of them.

Finished off tidying up the remaining raised patio beds, looks so much nicer now that fading plants have been either cut back or dug up.
Leaf clearing is never-ending,especially on the east patio side where the huge Oaks are.....definitely a bumper crop of acorns this year!!
                              A tad achy now.

Now't done in the garden today, despite the weather was great compared to yesterdays downpours.

I spent the day sorting out my electrics. The council are good, in that each year they carry out a gas check, all free of charge. One year, we ended up having our cooker and two fires condemned. Long after. I learned that several neighbours had suffered similar disasters. Eventually it turned out. The gas fitter doing the inspections was newly qualified and gave no leeway.

Anyway this electric inspection is new. The whole flat was rewired a few years back. As you computer users are aware, with all the odds and ends you aquire, you end up with wires everywhere. Of course as we all know. Sockets are always in the wrong places. So to avoid having to move the furniture around to plug in or out. I installed a few socket extentions. These I attended to today. A couple of the sockets meant I had to get down on my knees. YES! OK. Once down, I couldn't get up. Now I know what an elephant feels and looks like, rolling about.

As I say. I value this service.................................but wish they'd forget me.
