Ooh @Fat Controller That is brilliant news (only just seen this thread). My two girls are Rommies...mother and daughter, Dotty and Bea. Can I ask which rescue charity you are going through?
My advice is get the little pup insured straight away with petplan. We found out dotty had heartworm really bad when we first got her even though the test they did in Romania said negative :th scifD36: Pet plan have been brilliant insurers and paid out every single time.

Just remember that when they first arrive they will be exhausted and really frightened. The pup might be snappy around food because if they were dumped on the streets or at the kennels they may have had to fight with other dogs to survive. Our girls were very food aggressive at first, but that subsides over time and the more they realise they dont have to guard their food. they may also toilet in the house at first as they dont know what to do (however ours never once made a mess in the house a :doggieshmooze:).

our girls were really badly traumatised physically and we couldnt even walk them. After 3 months the worst of the bad behaviour was gone. It just takes time and Lots of love.
Keep us updated, I'm so excited for you! :hapfeet:

@Snorky85 - it is EverMore Dog Rescue. They have been absolutely wonderful to be honest. We get four weeks free pet plan to start us off, so we will almost certainly just stick with them. He is only four months old, so hopefully he won't have been overly traumatised, and he is definitely young enough to change his mind about the world.

He is currently nestled into his foster home:

Dear goodness me, I believe FC should be banned for posting those photos. I NEED A PUPPY!!!! All puppies are cute but this one has the eyes full of soul that only one puppy in a million has. This one is a heart breaker. :wub2: You are a lucky man FC to have the Little One joining your family, all the best!

On a very sad, cynical and under the circumstances, possibly easily misunderstood note, many foreign "charities" are well constructed businesses so we do need to watch out. Animals are mass bread, photographed and videoed very professionally to make the business seem like a warm hearted rescue. This is not only happening with animals, but sadly, also with humans and the professionally run "orphanage" businesses that are built for milking western charity money.

This very professional business obviously puts the genuine charities into a difficult position. How is a buyer or a donator able to differenciate between a shady but extremely professional business and a real case of warm hearted charity? Googling the subject is sad and above all, very confusing.

Anyways, this particular puppy and the owners are obviously a match made in heaven. :dbgrtmb:@Fat Controller, you are now obliged to give updates and photos regularly. :) Regarding names, I believe "Runeberg" would be just right. ;)

There are indeed some very shady goings on in the puppy market, even here in the UK to be fair, and a hell of a lot of money is being made somewhere. It took quite a bit of research on this particular charity before I was comfortable with them - it is so difficult.

Thank you @Selleri - he is a gorgeous wee cuddle bomb. The final concern that the charity has is that they need to be sure he will be OK as an only dog before they release him, but I am sure that will be fine; he won't lack for attention in this house, for sure.

That's really good that they organise the insurance @Fat Controller . What a cute boo boo! :wub2::doggieshmooze:

Was the pup rescued from the street or was he in a public shelter and then taken by the rescue charity? The reason I ask is that the dog catchers in romania are despicable (it only takes a quick google to see how vile they are and how sick the public "shelters" are).

Bea was only 4 months old when she got here, but she had been through hell.

He was picked up directly off the street (they showed me the photo of him in the footwell of the car when he was picked up) and the woman that runs the sanctuary works directly with the charity here in the UK. They only deal with two rescue places in Romania, I think for the very reason you mention.

The transporters have put themselves through hell to bring the animals to the UK (dogs and cats) and deliver them, making a point of posting videos and photos as they travel. They call them the 'happy buses'

My 4 are a Husky which we her 5th owner in 7 weeks from Bristol, but she has been home for a tad over 5 years, I also have a dog from Spain, we have had him for 3 years, another from Romainia for 2 1/2 years, and a long term foster who has medical problems for about 4 months from Romainia, it was not my intension to take on foreign dogs, but a dog needed help and we had space at the time, and you start to understand the abismal and awlful conditions these dogs go through, to me its a dog that needs help, dont matter where they are from, its a matter of circumstance, but saying that I now do home checks for this charity, and donate hanging baskets, planted containers, and pots to auction, not for self gratitude but to help these dogs, some ask why, the following image, I appolgise for, but the dogs in the bags, have been euthenised with a bat in front of the other dogs, I am so sorry for posting this.

It's a very strange set up in Romania. Hopefully your new little un will be ok. Dotty has scars all round her neck and legs from being dragged with wire around her neck by the dog catchers. Weve got photos from the awful public shelter she was in...they dont even give the dogs water. The rescuer in romania goes to the shelter to pay to get the dogs out before theyre killed. She puts them in her shelter and the uk charity (dogs walk this way) bring them over to the uk. My god there are horror stories over there. I was invited to go with the charity as they go and help the private shelters but I couldn't bare to go.

i am so glad youve given this pup a home. He will adore you. They are so grateful bless them. :imphrt:

Heck that's an awful picture @Cuttings  I've seen some dreadful sights-breaks my heart. They didn't ask to be born and they certainly don't deserve such cruelty. Poor dogs.
