Hopefully, this is just an initial response that will settle down quickly :fingers crossed: What can you do? I suppose we just have to put up with it/make the best of it, but it’s all very depressing.

It is, but we will make the best of it - nothing else for it.

        Stay safe @Freddy

I haven't shopped with Tesco for decades after finding out that I could buy the same items much cheaper elsewhere. A friend of mine used to buy from Tesco's until seeing a "special" buy of a 6 pack of tins of Beans touted at a special price. When he compared the price of separately sold same brand cans of beans he found it was cheaper to buy the individual cans!!:wallbanging: When he contacted the Manager the guy admitted the special buy was more expensive but said it was not his fault but the marketing. It made me chuckle to see that Tesco have been proudly saying that they've brought some of their items prices down to being comparable to Aldi's........which was, to me, shooting themselves in the foot by admitting they were selling items at higher prices....but great advertising for Aldi's.:heehee:

Just been to the garden centre, lots of people there buying christmas trees.

I'm guessing garden centres will be closed?
Their main selling this time of the year is christmas stuff.

Well, they unfortunately come under the "non essential" title, pete, but I strongly disagree with that:dunno::heehee:. I don't know if some of the local Plant Nurseries will reopen after another month of lockdown as it could finish them off:gaah:.

Did you buy a Christmas Tree???:heehee:

I haven't got that kind of money, the people in front of me handed over £300 in tenners.

£300 for a Tree, pete, that will probably be chopped up and binned after Christmas????:hate-shocked: There are times when prices, and people, are just insane. We always had a giant Artificial Tree which look realistic and we used time and again with all the things you hang on them to remind you of previous Christmases.:love30:

They were lucky. As far as I know a lot of shops do not accept cash.

They had two, artificial ones, I'm guessing probably with lights attached etc.

Yeah some started out like that round here but I'm guessing customers just walking away was not something they could put up with.;)
Still know one nursery around here that is card only, but they are a bit toffee nosed at the best of times.

Morrisons seem to be on the ball. At the beginning of Welsh lock down they limited the number of hand soaps etc. that people could buy. It worked as the shelves have been 'normal' for the last few shops. Whether this stays the same when the English lock down begins - is to be seen. The Morrisons we go to is a matter of meters away from the English border.
