I now have pensioner friends being hospitalised from (unintential) drugs/alcohol overdoses taken due to the stress from this pandemic.

Can't say I am surprised, I think many of us are at the end of our tethers with it to be honest. I really hate the world at the moment.

I see it as I've lost a whole year, and as you get older a year is long time (like when you were very young).

I just want to resume visiting my previously quiet former haunts without hordes of furloughed former workers crowding them out, so the sooner vaccinations get them back to work and back on foreign holidays the better.

Why are we vaccinating people in care homes that are unlikely to move out of the building?
Vaccinate the staff and all members of their families who might visit, and test these people on a regular basis, but not the residents at this time, maybe later when more vaccine is avilible .

I think you are missing my point all the time.;)

Get used to it, because most of those furloughed workers are now unemployed workers, and will be hanging around for a long time, and they wont be affording foreign holidays.;)

I’m thinking that there will be a lot of pent-up demand out there. Sure, sadly, there will be many who will have lost their jobs, but I do think there will be a ‘bounce-back’ sooner or later and that new jobs will be created.

Your suggestion will not work if, as is suspected/suggested, that vaccinations will not prevent some of those vaccinated from infecting others.

            Google it.

I just listened to the latest Briefing on BBC earlier, they said that it is thought highly unlikely that a vaccinated person will pass the virus on.
But as with all these things no one is going to put their head on the block and state 100% that is for sure.
I'm not into conspiracy theories so I wont google it.;)

I hope you are right, but its going to be a few years for some I think.
            Bounce back?
            More of a crawl I'm thinking:frown:

I think there’s some misunderstanding. What they were talking about was could a vaccinated person pass on the virus due to being vaccinated. What I was talking about was someone who has been vaccinated who then goes on to be infected by another.

Not how I understood it, so what you are suggesting is that the vaccine turns everyone into a super spreader?

Ok. You get vaccinated, you are protected. You come into contact with someone who has the virus and the virus infects you, yeah? What is not known is if you then become infectious even though you have no symptoms.

But that is the very thing they said was unlikely, but I say again, its not 100% known just assumed when compared to other viruses and immunisation.
I think we could discuss it all night and not get to the bottom of it besause lots of it is based in speculation on the part of scientist.
I for one am out of my depth so just go by what they tell us.

I watched it too. As I recall, the question was (something like) could someone become a carrier as a result of having the vaccine, not the same thing. It’s worth bearing in mind, the vaccine won’t stop you being infected (and possibly infectious?) by the virus, it just protects you when you are.

This is what the BBC reported 5 hours ago:

Covid: Who will have the Pfizer vaccine first and when can I get it?

"We do not know if the vaccine stops you catching and spreading the virus or just stops you from getting ill."
