Piece in the Grauniad today and the author really does not like BoJo! Has decided that he will easily capitulate and all this is bluster before accepting a very bad deal. It was a bit OTT in it's vitriol so I didn't read to the end but the gist was there in the first few paragraphs.
Playing second fiddle to that was the narrative of a Tory revolt over any deal / no deal / perfect deal etc... It felt a bit like going back 18 months and the opinion pieces on Theresa May

Has WTO now become an Australian style deal?
I think the Boss of Tesco needs to keep his mouth shut.
Sounds like he is doing his best to get stir up some more panic buying and paving the way to put all their prices up in the new year.

That would sound about right. Jack Cohen, when he started Tesco after WWI, had the motto - 'Pile it high, sell it cheap'. Making people want to buy things is still Tesco's, and others', main purpose.

Although, to be fair, Tesco was the first supermarket, last week, to decide to give back the Covid business rates rebate that they got. They're refunding £585m. It then got the others refunding as well. I think it has now got close to a total of 2 billion. :blue thumb:

Well to be fair they shouldn't have been able to claim it in the first place.

Just come down the M20, the signs are already saying delays for freight at the tunnel.
I assume it's the same on the ferries though not sure how much freight they take these days.

EU have already released their contingency plans which looks like it should force a no deal as it keeps all the trade pathways open as far as I can see. Sort of a back door trade deal negotiation extension

It seems to be a reasonable proposal, but the extension of the Fishing agreement to the end of 2021 might be tricky as it overflows into the Sovereignty area.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Kind of suggests they really don't want a no deal situation.;)

And that's why they're putting up the prices in the New Year. Any excuse will do!

About time - crack on Boris - don't let us down and cave into the EU:

Boris Johnson and the EU have both warned they are unlikely to reach a post-Brexit trade deal by Sunday.

According to the BBC - if there is a no deal - cheddar cheese will incur a tariff of 57%.

Hang on - we make cheddar cheese here in the UK - which will be tariff free - are they scarmongering - perhaps someone at the BBC should check their facts before broadcasting to the nation...

We could look at that the other way around Clanless. Perhaps it's the EU countries that will incur the tariff.

I don't believe much that the BBC/ITV/SKY state, along the newspapers.
I just wish Boris would say goodbye it's NOT been nice knowing you.
