What Jobs Are We Doing In The Garden Today 2020

On the matter of birds. I probably mentioned a while back, that I hadn't seen our usual seasonal flocks of Redwings and Fieldfares gorging on the local park's berried trees. At last. Today the Bay trees across the road, for days now, having more landings and take offs than Heathrow, by wood pidgeons filling up with fruits. Today, the shy was clouded as like swarms of starings, but no. These visitors were Fieldfares. Hello friendly Fieldfares. Great to have you back.

 

I cannot say for sure that all the deaths are linked but certainly the ones that have been alive when found shared similarities. I'm inclined to think poison. Nine have died so far. There was also another poor soul who had the top of his head chopped off by a grass cutter. He was fortunate and made a full recovery. At the moment I don't feel I can take in any more as they will not be safe upon release.

 

strong winds rinse and repeat. I did scrub out one of the bird baths a couple of days ago and pull out blanket weed from mini pond in a plant lot as I walked past it to fill bird feeders in front garden.

Yesterday there was a break in the weather for a few hours but we were at the vet with Dimitris. The vet suspects a heart murder and the blood test he had has also revealed kidney damage . Last night we were up until gone 1am obtaining a pee sample from him - what fun that was . Will drop it off later at vets. Once it's been analysed he needs an x-ray to determine if there is fluid build up in his chest cavity and If he has an enlarged heart.

 

I can't see an icon for 'sad' on the comments @luciusmaximus so I haven't clicked any, but I do feel sad for the hedgehogs and I hope Dimitris will be all right.

 

I have several clumps of hellebore in various parts of my garden. I've noticed several folk here have been removing leaves from them already.
Now here comes what must be one of the daftest questions ever asked in GC...
Is this done before the flowers appear or after?
I've always left my plants alone right through the growing season and rarely had thought to remove any leaves, unless they've become tatty and I've noticed.
Sorry for being a numpty..!!

 

ps I don't have any flowers on mine yet, hence my wondering.

I think Michael meant on the ' like' comments under a post . I've often thought it would be nice to have one ,as you often want to acknowledge a sad post, but can't as there isn't an appropriate emoji.

Thank you @shiney but that icon looks more to me like someone who is fed up than sad, like someone who's had enough I was looking for one with tears in it's eyes ...

Wet day / week still haven't sown my begonia seeds but I am expecting more to arrive soon along with some other seeds . I've been letting the garden go a bit unkept with the idea of seeing frozen seed heads and to help some of the wildlife , I can't say I've seen either happen barely had any frosts feels like spring next door got a cherry in flower, I might have a big tidy up tomorrow and just leave a few over winter like the eupatorium - echinacea and various others.

I've been rather accident prone this past week hurt my thumb last week and I've dropped the pole hedge trimmer on my arm this week I wonder what's next seen as things come in 3's
