Don't need to freeze the turkey. Just cook it and keep in the fridge. You may be thoroughly sick of turkey after a few days but you can have roast turkey for a couple of days. turkey sandwiches for lunch, make a curry from some (that will last longer than if just kept in the fridge) and you can give some turkey sandwiches to people sleeping rough (or offer it to the Salvation Army who will find someone to give it to). :blue thumb:

Get yourself a steam juice extractor, then you can bottle the juice, enabling you to pick any amount of blackberries, elderberries, raspberries, loganberries, blackcurrants, strawberries, etc., and use the bottled juice years later, saving on wastage, freezer space and cope with gluts/cheap reduced fruit. It would also eliminate all that messy business of sisking and straining fermenting fruit in big buckets with wine flies swarming round them.

Well all our sons are in tier 4 and my younger sister. A bit concerned now as younger son had planned to be with older son , just hoping his housemates are still there as I would hate for him to be alone.

No change in our plans for Christmas and New Year. We are spending the holiday season at the Shineyland Resort. It is extremely exclusive, very quiet and there is a good chef. I shall spend a lot of time in contemplation amongst the wildlife and gardens. :blue thumb: :)

Same here @shiney, I have a very good inhouse chef here too ( definitely not me!)

It will seen very different for us as we do normally see quite a few of our family...in fact last Christmas was 'quieter' , there was only 11 of us. It will certainly pull on the heartstrings and stir up a lot of emotions recalling happier times with our loved ones that are sadly no longer with us and those that this pandemic keeps us apart from.

Happily we will share our day with my brother though...I will definitely not have him being alone.:xmasbells:

This Christmas is turning out probably the most social we have ever had. Yesterday we had Zoom drinks with my cousins and their grown up kids some of them whom I have never met live. Today it's the weekly chat with Dad and siblings, and we are trying to get the Golden Oldies of the family together for a Boxing Day tea- just like it was when everybody gathered at Nana's. Technology is a bit of a challenge for some but it's quite fun to at least try.

And we are all learning, Dad has even learnt to aim his camera so that we see a bit more than his forehead and the ceiling lamp nowadays. :blue thumb:

Even though the virus situation in Finland is much better than here, there is fear around.

The ham is in the fridge, cheese bought and locked up, wine aplenty, gingerbread will happen over the next few days. Hello holidays and longer days! :hapydancsmil:

I see that the people of London, just before going into tier 4 lockdown, have decided that herd immunity is the way forward for the whole of the UK. At least one of them was seen to be wearing a mask. Stay safe everyone.

Just read in the Saturday Telegraph that a text message was sent to a lady (94) asking whether or not she would like a Covid vaccination. It was spotted 5 days later by an astute neighbour.
How can that sender expect a 94 year old to be computer literate ?
