Well, according to the latest Government Press Briefing by Matt Hancock, there's a second more infectious Covid 19 variant that's been identified as being brought in by two people travelling from South Africa.
Where I live in Cheshire has been moved from Tier 2 to Tier 3 from Boxing Day but to me, personally, it won't change things dramatically and I'd rather we act now than wait for things to get worse.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Previously we just saw various neighbour's widespread disregard of the Tiers/Lockdown rules.

Now we're able to observe their non-compliance of self isolation requirements, like continuing to go shopping, dog walking and visiting neighbour's houses so far.

But dont you think they are behind the game straight away with that thinking.

All this bringing in new restrictions from certain dates just causes mass infections over a short period before the new restrictions come in.
Surely if you bring in new restrictions it should as of NOW.
If they want from Boxing day then dont announce it until Boxing day.

But do you have a 24 hour Tesco locally, within your own Tier, or do you need to travel into a Tier 4 area to buy a cheap cauliflower? :yikes:

@JWK sorry to hear your news.

We don't have any supermarkets here. I did go to Tesco as it is the only one open at those hours and is also the nearest. I have not just bought a cheap cauli but enough shopping for the rest of the year. The cheap cauli was a bonus :hapydancsmil: as were a number of other items.

We go into Tier 4 on Boxing Day. Makes no difference to us either. :)

Is it not time that we stopped all international travel unless it is absolutely necessary? Freight and goods, fair enough, but folks traveling for leisure or even business needs to halt.

Well, it's obvious that they're behind the "game" as the data is up to 2 weeks late:dunno::doh: but, regarding identifying one out of the thousands variations the Virus is making it takes to time for the Researchers to identify which is the most infectious and then pass it on to the Government Scientists to evaluate the data, make a decision on what advice to give to the Government. Making lockdown decisions originates from proven scientific data that, inevitably, takes time. Whatever Lockdown decisions are made there'll always be criticism by persons not understanding what the barriers are.:wallbanging:

All the more reason to bring in changes as of immediately announced rather than how they have waffled around right from the start. :wallbanging:

I never make decisions if I don't know the pro's and con's, and I'm pretty sure that you don't either, pete, so that's a bit contrary. If they didn't tell us what the problems were and why they're making decisions they'd be accused of doing it all wrong, lying, not being quick enough to decide..........Oh, it's seems that that's already happening, seems like they can't win no matter what they do:dunno::heehee:
