Made my soil blocks. And sown some chilli seeds. Moruga, carolina reaper, 7 pot yellow, bhut jolokia, sangria, manzano, devil's tongue Still have ring of fire and shineybrids to go but I may direct sow them into pots.

Also sown 76 blocks with Kelsae seeds.

And now trying to figure out diy onion supports like the ones shown in some pics from your side of the pond.

Hello DianneW, welcome to GC from a fellow refugee
I think the lack of glass greenhouses here is something to do with the frequency of hail storms...
Polytunnels are a pretty good substitute, though :)

We moved here with one of those green reinforced regular style ones but it did not last long maybe a year...wind was the enemy for sure. The glass types can be too hot inside, although they can be painted or shielded, do miss the outdoor but indoor feeling of a glasshouse.

Ordered seeds from Chiltern and Plant World, mainly decorative perennials. Probably got far too many coming.

Hows your weather..we have windy, wet and cold, Log burner roaring away now so we shall be inside today, but miss the outside already but will survive as plenty of hobbies to get on with.
One being my Husbands ancestry as its very very interesting..French name of Aumonier, not sure I need to same his surname though.:nonofinger: Lovely area where you are and intended to move down that way but we ended up just on the South edge of Deux Sevres and love it here(it is cheaper for 1);)

Much the same here, but warmer than of late. The last dry day for a week. The garden's a complete no-no in winter, being a clayey slope. Luckily, I have a sort of temporary conservatory under the roof overhang, so I can potter amongst my citrus trees on firm ground :)
Aumonier, hmmmm that name would certainly lead to an interesting past.
                Have PM'd you...

I have an open mind on the cannabis seeds and me personally have seen goodresults for various health conditions in powder form... so would not ban it generally. Here in France they are very strict and straight about it, on the spot fines are said to be issued...not that we ever see Mr Plod around to administer this rule..I know here, that the French make out they follow the rules and nod in the right direction but actually all goes over their heads and they do what they want...love that. Well done and pat on the back for sowing a good variety:heehee:of seeds.

Hello @DianneW and welcome to the forum. I haven't sown any cannibis seeds for a few months as the last plants are just finishing their flowering down in the cellar and I want that space for starting decorative flowers and hopefully some perrenials . I make oil with the cannabis plants. I probably won't germinate any more until at least March for transplanting out in the spring.

the cannabis oil is a good health product and so many people have had to travel far and wide for their supplies of the medical variety. I know the UK have changed their rules so many can receive their oil locally but still not so easy for some other who need a larger dose. My daughter brought me some over from a local well know Vitamin supplier in the UK but I found it eased nothing for me.Although I am very well now, some health issues do right themselves eventually if your lucky...
We grow a lot of shrubs here and try to not have to many borders that get swamp with weeds...whoops swearing.... meant wild flowers of course. Our land is rough but we have achieved very successful areas in the plot to give us enough pleasure to do more....two ponds now that are really a pleasure to look after.

There is not going to any real work in the Garden today as the rain has left it WET.
Well actually it is part lake now without the benefits...no wild life...but the good side would be if it keeps this up and it does not drain, I know it would become a Haven for lots.....Took one quick(rather poor) photo on my way out to the local Shops in Sauze Vaussais just a short drive away.Just tried to put the photo on here but the 'L' plates stopped me...The shrub is a Chaenomeles Flowering Quince just by my window here and covered in bright cerise almost red flowers. We cut it back hard so it does not dominate the garden area.We have three altogether just in my view again...One we let grow a little more as it's more towards the back edge...There is a fig tree about 3 metres tall and it is bare of course now but we did enjoy the fruit as did the birds. We do have a lot of shrubs here and it suits the plot. One of my 'husbandmade' ponds is wooden and lined, full of goldfish all different sizes now but lots of males you can tell that.
Would love to take a few out and add to the other Pond which is a moulded type with a waterfall we put together ourselves from large rocks..from around our garden which was good...Lonesome resides there and he is huge..will show a photo when I can...would love to give him/her some mates, don't know what Lonesome would think/re-act though especially as he is much larger than any of the others...Still raining and for us its getting near nosebag time...

I think it's tried to thaw but there might be more snow showers on the way into the night.

I'm going to put off any pruning until this cold period has gone. I was going to cut back the Clematis on the Trellis Entrance and also the Shrub Roses this week but there's no hurry yet.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
