Corona Virus Treatment

Not to mention the specific France-bashing of recent days! Very disappointing, coming from an otherwise lovely bunch of gardeners Still, if it makes people feel better about coping with lockdowns, the lousy weather, Christmas overindulgence etc, what the heck......

 

We do? My muck heap (what's left of it) is 4 years old now....no odour Just the occasional whiff from the cattle-raising farm over the hill

 

It's always been six of one and half a dozen of the other between the two countries, hasn't it? The difference, perhaps, is that I take care to correct French misperceptions of the UK and it's inhabitants, when they arise. Not sure I feel like bothering anymore.....

 

On the two occasions I’ve stayed (holiday) in France, I’ve found them to be very friendly, no sense of anti-British at all. Indeed, on one occasion we were trying to navigate our way to some village and asked a local for directions. He got on his bike and beckoned us to follow. After a couple of miles of cycling through county lanes, he stopped and pointed the way. Can’t get friendlier than that!

 

I hesitate to post in non gardening discussion on here - (don't want to make any enemies - I have loved all your help with my newbie queries). I am a front line railway worker and have seen it rip through my industry and sadly kill colleagues. I would just like to offer my condolences to anyone who has suffered or lost people to it. I have family members in social services, the NHS, and mates in the police. All have horrible stories to share.

The lefty in me wants to see the government do more and protect people, listen to what staff associations and unions have to say rather than what idiot newspaper columnists say about us - and get public services back in house and run for the people not profits.

The righty in me wants to see more personal responsibility amongst people (mass crowding is inexcusable - don't go "but Cummings"), respect for the old bill doing a very tough job, and tougher action against idiots and tough border controls - surely this is just common sense.

The centrist in me wants legitimate business protected so that people have jobs to go back to when this is over. Politics is a difficult subject at the best of times I suppose. These are even more difficult times.

But whatever our political views, stay safe. Some of us have no choice but to work - and it is scary - the last thing we need are people flouting rules and crowding and giving us abuse. It's not a game and sadly it kills - and many of those it will kill or harm won't be the people who are being selfish - but will sadly get it passed onto them.

 

Well that's life, isn't it, @Freddy? Individually, people are mostly friendly, helpful and likeable. Once press and media start stirring the it all goes to pot
