Most car manufacturers, have a bog standard stereo and speakers, with the chance to upgrade, my other half, in her van, I took the standard stereo and speakers out, went to an Audi breakers/parts place, £150, I bought, then I fitted a 2nd hand Bose stereo and 8 speaker system, that is a lovely sound system, don't hear any road noise in that van, thoroughly recommend, they do post, if you, don't have an Audi breakers near you, this company is called All Audi in Bristol, if you are fitting in an older motor, a £6 adaptor plug can be found on Ebay/Amazon etc, no re-wiring.

      Hi,

Thanks, yes you are right about why EAC was taking a long time to rip.

I loaded another CD and allowed it to download the track titles but then Disabled the internet connection and then it whipped though the album as fast as FairStar did, so clearly it was comparing against other internet details.
To say that program comes with so many Help boxes as you start the program, seems strange they do not warn us about this time difference.

Our old Toyota has its own inbuilt radio unit with just FM and CD player, no other inputs.

However we did get a big sound improvement by replacing the original front speakers and adding dash level tweeters.

We could buy a Connects2 Aux/USB adapter to plug into a spare CD port at the back of the unit, thought that costs about £70-80 just for the parts.
Can also get a Bluetooth version but that almost doubles the cost.

However is just a shade bigger than double Din, and there are Toyota specific Double and Single Din Bezel adapters around , so could fit a variety of aftermarket head units.

This basic Poineer with FM and USB inputs for just £45, way cheaper than adapting the original one.

This fancier USB and Bluetooth /phone holder for £110

Or even full Android Auto at £399

        So many choices ....:rolleyespink:

The only problem is it worth spending so much on a such an old car (2006) for a few tunes ? Never sure if its the car or us that will give out first . :old::biggrin:

        Sorry, I missed this

MP3 for ultimate flexibility and I agree with Freddy that 192 should give you a quality that is hard to differentiate on most equipment. When I want a really high quality copy, I tend to use FLAC myself, but it is not recognised by everything, therefore not as flexible as MP3

Happens to us all !

Having looked around, seems most modern devices accept FLAC these days.

For use in the car, that Pioneer unit above working with the moby, think that would be the way to go, no ned for usb sticks etc, as the moby would do all the storage and decoding.

This video shows what it can do, seems to get good reviews, though do wonder if its way too complex for us oldies to use, so many options and functions, all for £109 !

At that money, it is going to be a bit of a bargain - they don't sell an awful lot of car audio nowadays (it is a dwindling market) so you are seeing some really decent kit for not a lot of money.
