It gets worse! Now it's affecting the bottle trade.

    www.world-of-bottles.co.uk

"Due to the pandemic measures, trade between the UK and the EU is currently paused. We are unable to accept orders until further notice"

Hope the UK brewers, wineries and cider makers have stockpiled :yikes:

Our Nationwide New Year Lockdown started at 11pm last night till 5am this morning. For today, Saturday and Sunday we cannot leave our home county nor home after 1pm each day till 5am next morning. Meaning we must do all necessary things within our home county between 5am and 1pm except for medical appointments, etc.

That's okay by us as we didn't plan on going anywhere anyhow. I like my home and garden and the weather will be reasonably good.

I talked, last night, to a Niece of mine, who I admire and love greatly, who is a Front Line NHS Worker. She, and her Family, all were infected with Covid 19 by an unwitting family friend in the early months of the pandemic and, thankfully, all have recovered.
But she has also told me that a few weeks ago she suffered pains in the chest while also feeling unwell and after a while decided to go to the Emergency Department. She was diagnosed with Angina at first but after further investigation was found, after proper tests, to be suffering from Covid 19 Pneumonia and is now recovering, off work, but seems to have symptoms of long term after effects.
She was, while at work, being tested every day but always tested Negative but it seems that the medical opinion is that the Virus was deeper in the throat than the tests allow for.
So, we know know that you can get Covid 19 twice, but having the Vaccine should stop you getting infected in the first place.

Sorry to hear that. It seems a significant minority of people are suffering with 'long covid' with various symptoms lasting weeks or months. Very worrying and it seems to be a lot of younger people reporting it.

I read somewhere that Covid-19 can also damage the brain - perhaps if this information was made more widely available - then people would start to take notice. The media telling us that young people are at low risk and that most people will have a slight cough - is encouraging people to continue to ignore the rules. It wouldn't surprise me if the next we hear is that this 'new' strain of Covid-19 is having a greater impact upon younger people - they seem to be the ones who are spreading it.

Casualties of 70,000 - when will these people start to take this seriously?

Doctors are urging the public to "take it seriously and follow the rules" to protect the health service.

Check again! There now appears to be huge delays to acheiving immunity

"you should expect to receive your two doses of vaccine and be fully protected by between 21/05/2021 and 23/06/2021"

So much for things getting back to normal by Spring. We might need a new vaccine before everybody's received their first JAB.

                    P.S. Mrs Scrungee's has been delayed by 6 month's!

The vaccine queue calculator is now allowing for the 12 week gap before the second dose is administered, to achieve max immunity. Just checked my status and there are 8 million in front of me, but the estimate for my first jab is now a little earlier. But then again it's only an estimate.

I saw this yesterday and thought the same as Harry, the calculator now has different wording. Previously it was the time I got my first jab i.e.:

" ... you should expect to receive your vaccine between 27/02/2021 and 16/03/2021."

Now the calculator is allowing for the second jab plus the period of time for the body to build up immunity:

"... you should expect to receive your two doses of vaccine and be fully protected by between 21/05/2021 and 23/06/2021."

We're nowhere in the chaos that the USA individual States are in with no proper distribution network and have only injected a 10th of the forecast quota of people. They're having massive trouble storing the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine at the correct temperatures as they have not got enough equipment at local level that will freeze it at -70C.
Also it doesn't help that some Maniac, in Ohio, took 500 samples deliberately from the Freezer knowing it would render them useless.....he's now being charged for the offence.
So, while people are picking at the way we are getting vaccines in peoples arms there's a Super Power and lots of other countries doing so much worse.
