Just dropped the kids off at school after being given a key worker place (Mrs L, as a teacher). Eerily quiet. One school doing everything one way, another doing it another... Crazy times.

I agree with you @DianneW , life is too short to be trudging back through pages and pages to work out something. A lot of what is said goes straight over my head, mainly because I hardly watch any telly so any reference to the likes of Dr Who are lost on me. Although I do remember watching it in the 60s as a kid. I'd rather spend time in the garden than watching children's programmes now-a-days.

Just read on the BBC that travellers to the UK will require a negative test! For goodness sake I thought that was already in place! So we are still letting in anyone, even from South Africa who might have the new virus mutation that our vaccines are useless against. We need to take lessons from the French and just say Non. Shut our borders now!

Coronavirus: Arrivals in UK could soon need negative test

Other countries are stopping Britons travelling, a family friend from Florida has been stranded here for over a month after coming over for business. She has had to pay for a test and it must be negative before she can fly back, that all makes sense. Why can't we insist on the same arrangements for everyone coming in?

There are rumours that something similar will be announced at the end of the week. I wouldn't hold your breathe!

Thanks shiney, what's annoying me is I thought this was already in place months ago. Maybe I was thinking about asking incoming travellers to self isolate for 2 weeks (which I bet most don't bother).

The problem is that there are two Government Departments in total disagreement about the taking of tests before returning to the UK. One argument being that any UK person abroad who would be unable to get a test in the country where they are would be stranded and be classed as a "distressed person".:dunno:

Thanks for explaining that @ARMANDII. Maybe we should allow uk citizens back in exceptional circumstances like that and test them on arrival. Put them in isolation until they are clear.

                      Lockdown 3, day 1:

Our neighbour has had 2 family visitors so far. Over the road, they've gone off to visit their friends in the next village. One who should be 'shielding' has been out 3 times today and another 'shielder' has been out once.

And we wonder why the Positive Tests and Deaths are going up.
If people don't start taking notice we will be in this situation in January 2022.

                          I would shoot the B*^%+=!

@Freddy How did you manage that?

I've previously tried to add all the GC staff to my ignore list, but that option doesn't appear when viewing their profiles.

Please, please, let me know how to do it.

P.S. Myself and other like minded employees adopted a similar practice at work, configuring MS Outlook to automatically delete all incoming emails from our managers, which ensured us a quieter life until the %$#@#%s in our IT Section overode our settings .
