Hello fellow crafters. Not sure whether painting and drawing is classed as "craft" but here is my next drawings. Probably about the 3rd attempt at painting Honesty as kept getting the paint too dark.

It was quite a contrast to painting/drawing with the vibrant colours of the clary sage.

Nice on @Snorky85 and I like the subject too. I've ordered seeds to grow Honesty and this will be my first time finding them. Liked them when I saw them at Shineyland, the day we met :)

Thank you. I'm very much a beginner - you should have seen the previous attempts at painting them - they looked hideous LOL.

I've just started watching a few videos on youtube about glazing and building up layers - you have to work out which of your watercolours are Translucent or Opaque first....so I will be doing that. Or I will buy some better quality watercolours that tell you that already ha ha.

I follow a chap on Twitter called Chris Thorogood and he is a botanist, Director of Oxford Botanic Gardens I think?? And has a few books out. Last night he told me to gradually built up layers by "Glazing" only when it is completely dry and details at the very end. His work is amazing.

His oil paintings are even more life like

Ah I could have sent you some! I've got loads from my grandmas garden. It will be the first time I've tried growing them too. I'm not sure when to sow them or actually how!?

You may be a beginner Snorky but your work is lovely and you definitely have a natural talent. :) I've never attempted finer art. I painted a long time ago but it was on a much bigger scale.

Ah that's really kind of you to say @Sheal What type of paint did you use? I've got gouache and watercolour. Never tried oils before.

Ah, my answer was probably a little misleading @Snorky85. :heehee: When I said a much bigger scale I was talking of scenery for a popular yearly London event many years ago, backcloths etc.

My little bro is living up in Leeds with his mates. He sent me this pic earlier today which inspired me to have a go at drawing it.

It was quite a nice way to spend a rainy morning inside.
