WHAT ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2021

Ok thanks, found and picked some yesterday, like you I will have a go at anything too.

Have read up on it ( a bit) and it was suggested that after filling the pot with appropriate growing medium ( haven't checked that bit out yet) you should go and find some moss ( plenty here that the birds peck off the garage roof....and chuck!!) and then top the surface with it. Then sprinkle the seeds on top.
This is just what I've read.....not sure how correct this is.

Has someone started early on the port..

 

With more snow overnight there's still no chance of pottering around the garden. After defrosting the bird bath for a second time today I decided to clean it while I could. Filled it with clean water, scrubbed it out and then found it was frozen to the log it sits on so I had to carefully prise it off to empty it. With the job done, clean and refilled, it's now freezing over again.

Here's a little friend to cheer us all up. He/she was watching while I tackled the bath.

 

Making (slow) progress with the field drain across the garden. The trench was dug some months ago, so is now half-full of water and ice. Got the perforated pipe wrapped in geotextile and into the trench today but it's going to take a few days to shovel the earth back in, now it's settled into solid mounds The robins are happy, though, picking off the exposed earthworms and grubs, and the cats have been racing around like lunatics, delighted that someone is out there with them

 

Yeah, was a bit random without the post from Dianne about her having angry words with her neighbour(s). A very poor attempt to make a funny in the gloom and decay of winter for which I apologise.
Note to oneself, must try harder

Thank you @Snorky85. Robins are such cheerful little birds. Looking back at the photo it looks like a new fence and posts are not too far away. More work!

 

The Acanthus (back of border Plant) is known by us as ' Britches'......
'Bears Britches'
But can't tell you why , as I don't know,might be an interesting explanation somewhere

 

We know them as Bear's Breeches, apparently the origin of the nickname is long lost.
Also called Oyster Plant too.....can't work that out either!

 

It can be found on the seashore.

 

Today got a lot of wood ash from a friend of ours to sprinkle around the fruit plants, just got to find a day to do it.
