We get a variety of wild life in our garden. I have slow worms in my compost heap also hedgehogs.
We also have a pond, used to have fish, but lost them mostly to herons. Now taken over by frogs. Couple of years back we were being visited by badgers that kept digging in our lawn and eating our strawberries.

Thank you @luciusmaximus . Yes I was surprised to see it. Ii moved it to my compost heap and checked it when starting to get dark. It was ok because I saw it moving. I guess something spooked it. :)

We get a lot of Toads they make strange noises like an electrical buzz, usually find them under one of our fosse covers and one baby kept entering our house several times and that was a tad strange but actually felt a little sad as to where were the parents.....

Great Crested Newt | Reserves and species
One big regret we did not take photos hardly at all of our Bexhill garden. The main pond was is the back garden and although when we move there in 2000 there was a small pond in situ we wanted a larger one so we drained it and dug and dug nothing like clay pot soil to give you a marathon job. Well we came across a newt not actually in the pond but under some rocksand soon discovered it was a great crested newt.

We left him where he was and took care not to disturb him...
the lining was purchased and had a guarantee of 20 years so that sorted we lined the hole after putting a blanket material in place first...there was fish in the original small pond that a neighbour Hilary who as it turned out was a former Tillier Girl who had worked at the London Palladium in the 60's...She loaned us a small tank so happy fish..We had to treat the water we put in the new pond and also let it settle for a few days before we introduced the fish to their new home.

Ducks.. Fluffles and Sweetie Pie both Fox Victims sadly, price of their freedom, which was still the right way to treat them looking back. The pond we had to cover when we got our Ducks but they still would try....
We soon made a small wildlife water feature and here it is..

the small view of a gate to the right was our own entrance into Pebsham Farm where we were permitted to walk with care..cows about and then horses...was a great place to live then...not now though.

We had similar soil problems when digging the hole for our pond. Very clayie. We used a preformed plastic pond, wish we had gone for pond liner type. Project for the better weather perhaps:)

Love your garden photos very different to ours...
We used a very strong expensive liner thinking its a one job done for ever...nope after 4 years we had a leak in and purchased a fixer that you apply in the water and it seals it..worked perfectly and we had to pay the price but worth it...World of Water was where we got the liner and they sell various thickness's we did complain on one occasion, they did not really do anything about the liner splitting ..must admit though we were too gentle with them....

Thank you. The garden has evolved in the 24 years we’ve been here. Now as I’m getting older I’m trying to reduce the work needed to keep it up together.

Got these goldfinches on the sunflower hearts feeders, they do make a mess with them, must be about 12 all together. I couldn't take a closer pic.

Yes we have hedgehogs I've made a feeding station and made 2 houses for them at the back of the back garden, should be around about March or April.
