Corona Virus Treatment

The sad thing is that discriminates against those who cannot walk to get there because they have a disability - they may only be capable of a walk around that park and then back in the car. This country is becoming more like Nazi Germany every day, and we are cheering it on - it is incredibly sad.

 

I think it's sad that should even be said when we have no conception of what Nazi Germany was like to live in. We live in a still democratic country where a pandemic is raging and we're losing over a thousand lives a day and to compare the UK to a cruel, one party, Dictatorship which caused a World War and the loss of millions of lives is just plain wrong.

I'm sorry, pete, but I don't. Suffering what are sensible restrictions during a pandemic to maintain some sort of protection against the Virus does not compare in the slightest with the Nazis. Things get said that are too easy to say without even having thought about it. I defend the right to Free Speech to my dying day but such comparisons as that are naive and totally wrong and need correcting otherwise it would be an insult to those who lost their lives during that period.

Where's the Nit Picking in that statement?. A lot of members will think it an offensive statement that needs to be disputed, letting it lie would go against the thoughts of most of the members and .....

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you're thinking about posting and know it will be offensive, think, and think again, and then don't post it.

It would be if it was true, but challenging such a statement has nothing to do with moral high ground but defending the truth. We're all fed up to the teeth with the restrictions and the loss of some of our freedoms but that does not make the UK a demonic Dictatorship.

Sooner or later on long internet discussions someone compares it with Nazi Germany at which point the thread is ended.

 

I disagree with that, John, as much as I do with the comparison to Nazi Germany. As I have said previously I will defend the principle of Free Speech but my benchmark is that it is responsible and not offensive. Free Speech often involves controversy, which is fine, but it doesn't have to be offensive.
So, as far as I'm concerned Free Speech should always win when used responsibly and I don't see why this particular Thread should be closed/ended as other members should also be entitled to their Free Speech and ability to use this Thread.
