When David Essex was young..haha us too..we went to many of his concerts..about 10..those eyes of his...saw him in Croydon in his Flashy Mercedes...Was looking at a video of him yesterday was on a chat show with Lorraine Kelly 2017 was gobsmacked...Do not want to appear unkind though...

 

Called it Bluebeat and can remember going to a bluebeat club in South Norwood near the Cinema and the Station, when I was a grown up 14 year old..no problem getting passed the door either with my late best mate Rosi. Both of us being tall, so easy to pass off being older...

 

The only band we walked out on ... awful live but love this ...

 

We do have a sleep on the couch before but we go to bed by 10.45

 

Ah, well that's a particularly English term for it Dianne, it was called that sometimes because of the English label, Blue Beat Records. This chap was their most popular artist...

I have not tuned in to any Reggae music for ages but I go into memory mode when I listen to it...Mr. W before he went into being a Trucker worked for Ariston Alloys where it was extremely hot foundry work with 99% of the people from the Caribbean......jokes flying about all day long along with drinking gallons of water and salt tablets..clothes could stand up on there own at the end of the shift...4 days a week...I got to met some of them socially and of course Reggae was played constantly..talking late 60's here and all the guys were sending money back home..although they said home back..Their aims were to save enough money and go back to their homes eventually...They were a lot older than Mr.W and many died along the way...so some never achieved their dream...That is why we moved to France, Mr. W's dream and I have had enough time now to know it is my home too.
