I still get the odd email somehow they find me......I have a google email for youtube use...although I sign in to Mr. W's as I know his password off by heart...:yay:

I have been with Virgin for twenty years now, and cannot recall any problems with the email service. In fact my email is still @blueyonder.co.uk, whens it was Telewest. I do have Gmail accounts as an ISPs email is not transportable if you ever want to change.
I really do not like supporting the Google,Amazon,Facebook giants, but unfortunately have to in a lot of cases.
ProtonMail does rate as No1 on lots of tech review sites for security, so may be the way to go.

Have used mail.com for years. To be honest after several years the trash email tends to start to build up so I might swap address before long. I also have some gmail accounts but have found the free providers to be as good as the paid.

@Sheal , I think I remember that. But in 20 years of Telewest/ Virgin media email, I can't recall a problem. Yes we have lost t'internet a couple of times, but never longer than half a day.

I moan about Virgin Mediocre, but the same as Harry I've not had that many real problems and I've been using the TV for at least 20yrs and broadband for 15 yrs.

Just an update, been trying a few of these alternative email providers, some with limited free accounts others with paid for only.
The ones we looked at / tried were ..

For us, **************** seemed the easiest to use, but still with some extra features should we need them, unlike some of them which seemed quiet complex or more geared for full office use.

Hopefully it will work well and keep us independent from the ISPs and out of Googles prying eyes.

                    Will do.

As we liked the layout etc of the basic plan and after seeing some test emails go back and forth properly we have migrated a couple of accounts on to ************** and will see how things go.

Certainly worth a look or try.............

If like us, a bit slow on the uptake these days, just keep looking at it over a few days and getting familiar with things; you can use it as if its normal email or with high levels of encryption if you so wish.

Gmail has always been a good service in that the mails come in and go out ok, but its scanning of the mails we know about and what we Don't know about thats always concered us.
The final straw has been all the mails from google over the last couple of months, asking us to check this, give more contact info, agree to this that and everything.

Call us paranoid or old fashioned, but we do feel more comfortable getting our private matters out of their clutches, though we will still use gmail but just for general non critical online forum type work etc.
