Still got some shrubs to prune, so will get some of that done.
Just having a whisky while it warms up a bit out there.

Not today there's still a lot of snow around and it's going to stay cold.

Been into the greenhouse and split out some sweet peas and pinched back a few. Also decided to give my onions a head start prior to transferring to the lotty.

          Not much today....

... I risked the shops this morning, and got some more peanuts for the birds. That was a bit of a laugh. I went to one pet-shop chain, and looked all around the shop for a big sack of peanuts. Eventually braved asking in french for them (I’d crossed over the border from Flanders into Wallonia - my french is awful, whilst I can follow most conversations in Dutch) to be shown a 2.5kg bag. “No, a large sack”. “But that is the large bag, Madame....” I laughed, and said that I would empty the bag in one day!

Crossed the road to the other pet-shop chain shop, to find almost immediately a 20kg sack of much higher quality peanuts. Ok, the staff are downright rude in that shop, but they’d got the nuts!!

Got home, and duely put around 2kg of peanuts into our empty feeders....

Had a stroll around the garden, everything looks OK. The snow is rapidly melting now and at least all the pathways are clear.
Checked on all the plants in the greenhouse noting a job for tomorrow, another yoghurt pot extension is need on all the Sweet Pea towers, they are picking up speed in their growth now. :spinning:

We spent the weekend getting the footings in for the greenhouse; next step is building the base up from the concrete, but Mr Bassoon is back at work today and tomorrow so that will be a job for later in the week.

Today it's so cold here the henhouse door had frozen shut, so the first job was defrosting that to let the hens out :rolleyespink: I've hauled the propagators down out the attic and given them a good cleanup, if the weather holds then hopefully the first one will have chillis and sweetpeas in it before the end of the week.

Not done a lot . Watered plants in the greenhouse (30 minutes) and then hand picked another 40 litre bin of moss from flower beds - removing it from around, and over, snowdrops and Spring flowering plants. The plants are getting smothered. Had to glue my fingers back on afterwards :hate-shocked:

Managed a couple of hours weeding the main border this afternoon. Why does grass grow so much better in the borders than it does on the lawn?:mute:

The chilli seeds are coming up so just keeping an eye on them. Might lose all of the lupin seedlings i think that I pricked them out too soon, they did have roots but maybe not enough.

That's a shame @Logan. I love Lupins I still have a few that I grew from seed about 4years ago , some are now quite large clumps. The only downside is the ghastly Lupin Aphids...they're huge critters. :yikes: Thankfully they only appear on the 2nd lot of blooms later in the year!!

That's a shame, they're one of my favourite flowers.

I haven't done any gardening outside for ages (it's too cold and the garden is in such a mess it will have to wait until I can spend lots of time there when the weather improves)
But I did bring some things into the kitchen from an unheated 'conservatory' - two penstemons, Sollya and Jasmine, and a pretty Marguerite which has lots of flowers on it. They needed watering and I was afraid to do it while they were still in the 'conservatory' in case the compost froze.
