Minus 9, I guess you get used to it, but must be hard on the heating bills.

 

Oh yes. Central heating running on mains gas is less expensive than electric but still costly.

It's up to 19f (?c?). And cloudy however, we're up to nearly 10 hours of daylight so quantity vs quality is okay

 

Thank you both. I feel really sorry for them, there's no shelter in the field apart from boundary trees and anything they can eat is under snow. The owner rarely brings any hay for them either.

A better day today with lots of sunshine. Not much of a thaw though with the temperature only reaching 1C/34F.

 

People who neglect animals.................... do they have no heart..nope..

@DianneW they aren't totally neglected. Three of the four horses are semi wild and used to a difficult environment and climate. A retired vet who lives nearby has checked on them in the past and said they aren't suffering as they have plenty of fat on them. I just feel sorry for them out in all weathers but they seem to be fine.

 

When we were in Bexhill as volunteers for Barbie Keels Animal Sanctuary we saw so much cruelty along the way and so you do get rather sensitive to anything Animal..You know one day Mr.W's brother was over to us here as he also lives in France..was a family get together with their oldest Sister and Husband staying with us...Ok he drank our wine he ate our food and he got a little over the top..He is very aware we love animals and love our pet Cats beyond normal..we know that..He said out of the Blue..you know when I drive about from place to place I make a point of running any cat over that is in my path....Mr. W. was gobsmacked. I was in the Kitchen and he came through for the toilet..saying to me I think I have upset Mr. W. and I said I bet it was over our Cats..Yeah he said and walked off to the loo...When I heard that I was naturally really upset. Still am...

I collected the whole set of 12 recently, one for each month of the Year. Started just by chance before our move to France. Saw a notice of a house sale just up the Lane and everything was just £1.00..I purchased quite a lot that day.They are by Peter Barrett and made by Royal Worcester.This is January....

Light rain at some point during the day, but for now all looks dry. High of 7C with a low tonight of 1C.
