This is avery friendly forum.. However, forgive me. I sometimes wonder. If a mere menber such as I. Cross swords with a member of admin. Might this mean a ban?
If you break the rules then you can get banned and some have, but every one can see things in a different light, we all make misakes some learn of them other just carry on In this day and age it is to easy to up set people when you don't mean to!! today words seem to have changed meanings
Well said @Jiffy When any Admin posts any normal post on here they are posting as just an ordinary member. So you are welcome to disagree with them - as long as you follow the normal procedure on GC of disagreeing with what has been said and not attacking the individual. What is against the rules (good ones, and set by the GC owner before any of the admin joined) is to question any admin decisions. These decisions are made after quite a lot of discussion amongst the admin. One of the problems is that when it is an admin decision the general membership is not cognisant of all sides of the matter and tend to only see what is posted on the forum or what they might hear from just one side of the argument. Everyone, when they join, is sent a link to the the Guidelines/Rules and they can be found in the New Members section. If you're polite to other members (lots of friendly banter is fine) even if you are disagreeing with them then there's never any need to worry.
Good morning @Mike Allen my friend the short answer to your question is NO The long answer and very well put I might say is Shiney's post above Just to add and to use your words Mere Member (with which I strongly disagree )all members are treated equally and are of the upmost importance to GC without members there would be no forum and that includes the admin team
It's okay to disagree with admin. Certain admin do reward you with a lengthy reply to debate your opinion. Just know it isn't personal. I suspect sometimes that members, mere ones and all the others, are getting paid by the word. But I could be wrong...
I've not found much reason to disagree with any of the good admin on G.C. However i have found myself in a less than agreeable conflict on many occasions with mrs Ewing. She insists on using no lids on vegetable pans for instance. When i cheerily point out that her method causes too much steam and onward condensation she gets very irritable. I go on to point out that the stove can also cook the veg using less power with lids on. After being threatened with having a saucepan rammed over my head, i usually just button it and gratefully receive my cooked lunch. Arguments are unproductive.
Crossing swords, Mike, with Admin is a different matter to crossing swords with a member of Admin posting as a ordinary member. Admin when posting as an ordinary member is subject to, and protected by the Rules and Protocols, so they cannot attack, insult, or intentionally cause offence to any other member and, if they did, they can be reported to the Admin Team for doing so. Any member of the Admin Team reported for any offence when posting as an ordinary member will step back and not take part in any consensus action by the rest of the Admin Team who would deal with the matter with neutrality and fairness.
Thank you all for your input. I know that this may sound strange, but being amember of this forum really does mean so much to me. Especially during this covid problem. Since January last year, I've only been out for hospital appointments. So no outside contact. Daughter Amanda is so afraid of losing me, and I am so worried about her, as her immune system is so low. To be honest. I wonder how she keeps going with all her medical problems. As pointed out. This forum is so much more than just a group of like-minded gardeners. To me, we are an extended family, where we share problems and do our utmost to consul and comfort others. I love researching things on behalf of others. To lose this forum, for me , would be disaster. Honestly. Deep down, I am so very lonely. So thanks again. Please Stay Safe.
