Just another case of them lengthening the stick with the carrot on the end.

I think its partly the media playing it up all the time, they really dont want this to end any time soon.

Well, at least he went out in a blaze of glory.
He rounded off his life of a hundred years in a good way.

Couldn't agree more pete, Captain Tom was inspirational during lockdown and the amount of money he raised was astonishing, I hope it found its way to help the NHS Staff.

Who would have guessed - it now turns out that the effectiveness of the Oxford jab increases with the longer gap of 12 weeks before the booster jab - so in this case the brainiacs warning against extending the time between jabs were wrong.

More good news that the Oxford jab offers some protection against passing on the virus - so each person who is vaccinated will indirectly protect other people around them - this is a game changer for getting the virus under control.

Why don't we hear anything about the other vaccines?

I have experienced the "feeling tired (fatigue)" side effect of the AZ jab.

After being given my (first) jab on Monday morning, then walking dog for nearly 4 miles on my return, I started feeling very tired in the afternoon, fely all in by 18:00 and was in a deep sleep by 19:00. So tired I could have used a brick as a pillow and it would have felt like memory foam. Slept for 11 hours.

Started falling asleep in armchair infront of stove yesterday afternoon. Slept from 18:30 to around 5:00 this morning, but not the incredibly deep, zonked out sleep of the previous night.

I pleased because it's showing my body's immune system is having a strong reaction to the vaccine :dbgrtmb:

How has that been discovered when the first Astravenca jabs only started being given on the 1st January 2021, less than 5 weeks ago? Covid: Brian Pinker, 82, first to get Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine

Would have been found out in the trials I'm guessing, probably still data coming in from months ago.

I wonder how long before the papers start pointing fingers and whom he caught it from or where ....

AZ have said exactly what @pete said. It's from the data that they're still getting from the trials.

On the point raised by the French about over 65's:- AZ have stated (interview on radio) that the over 65's have had the same responses to the jab as the under 65's. The only difference is in the number on the trials. Apparently they only had 8% of the people on the trial that were over 65 and that the French are misquoting (by accident or design :noidea:) that it is only 8% efficient on the over 65's. (I think the French authorities are now starting to say that there was insufficient data.) The AZ rep said that they only had that number of over 65 volunteers (some were not eligible because of drugs they were on) because it is the natural balance of volunteers that come forward.

Having spoken to family in France it is their non-expert opinion that the anti over 65 info was put out because there just isn't enough supply and they have to come up with an excuse. Whether that is correct is anyone's guess.

                      Don't shoot the messenger. :heehee:

Well i had my first jab today at St Helens rugby ground, about 11 miles away. Extremely well organised and plenty ofcar parking space.:dbgrtmb: The NHS bookings flew through, took me about 35 minutes. They we also processing the doctors surgery bookings in this hub, and they had quite long queues for some reason. While we were waiting for the jab, seated, I noticed about 10% of the people were in their 30 to 40s. Would this be front line workers?

Yes, my two nieces working for the NHS have been vaccinated. I had to go to the Dentist today and both my Dentist and 20 something assistant had been vaccinated.

Sign in the Lloyds pharmacy this morning saying they will be opening a bit late tomorrow morning due to the staff getting the jab.
