Another amble around the garden today just to get more of a sense of what is happening and what needs doing.......
The Arbour, which faces West so I can watch the Sunset, which is one of my favourite sitting places with a Mug of Tea needs some light pruning. There's a Rose "Alchemist" growing up the side, (your left), and a Rose "Creme de Creme" growing on the other side(your right) along with about 4 Honeysuckle on each side.
I can sit here unobserved and watch the Birds and what else is happening in the garden and just enjoy the scents, colours and peace.
    upload_2021-2-4_15-50-54.png

Now this evergreen shrub may not look much with it's tiny leaves but is my favourite when it bursts into flower with literally hundreds of tiny white flowers that are so heavily scented that, on a warm day you can smell yards away.........Osmanthus Burkwoodii
    upload_2021-2-4_15-57-26.png

And this insignificant piece of Grass Stipa Gigantea which should reach a height of up to 6'. From little things big things can grow!
    upload_2021-2-4_16-27-55.png

More shoots coming out and there's a bit of a mix there and I think I'm not alone in forgetting what I planted there over the years
    upload_2021-2-4_16-30-51.png

I try to leave this part of the garden which actually goes on by another 15' so the that Wildlife can have their own Kingdom. I've left a 12' long stretch of branches etc in the area for shelter etc.
    upload_2021-2-4_16-35-30.png

To your right is a Bottle Brush Shrub which is in partial shade but still manages to produce it's brushes and I'm hoping for good things this year.
    upload_2021-2-4_16-39-35.png

I need to sort out the pots on the Patio and then, in the warmer weather, get the Pressure Washer to work to clean it.
    upload_2021-2-4_16-42-30.png

I've also still go to sort out in groups the rest of the other pots waiting to go into the borders
    upload_2021-2-4_16-45-12.png

    upload_2021-2-4_16-46-49.png

along with the bottom row of pots in front of the Bearded Iris bench.

I think the Weather Station is a good investment as while not only giving you current conditions it will also take a guess at what will be happening, weatherwise, in 12 hours time. It's in a new position pointing North and does the job.

      upload_2021-2-4_16-56-34.png

I have two Perpetual Sweatpeas, one against the East side of the Trellis entrance and the other facing South in the Oak Barrel by the Kitchen door
      upload_2021-2-4_16-59-31.png

The Oak Barrel always seems to have something of interest, apart from the Climbing Rose "White Skyliner" in it. It's lasting well, being around 15 years old
      upload_2021-2-4_17-1-58.png

A sight not often seen in the Wildlife pond which is the pump used to oxygenate the water when it's really hot. I pull it out of the pond every Winter and then put it back when I wearing the Chest Waders having a wade around.
      upload_2021-2-4_17-5-42.png

Again, this may not look much but you can see the "dry" brick wall that's actually in the pond running the 22' length of the pond and about 5' from the bank itself, filled with garden soil for the Bog Garden which the pond feeds through the gaps between the brick. It's lasted since 93'
      and still doing the job.

This pot is filled with plants I bought on one of shiney's Open Days a fair while ago and, by the looks of it, needs emptying the plant dividing and replanting:dunno::heehee:bvgf

Had this fools gold many years a Danish
friend Arne bought it over when he use to come
and stay with us...we called him the crazy man.'cause
he was very vulnerable and never learnt his lesson.
He would go up to London for
the day and come back loaded with all kinds of
bargains..perfume, clothes all the labels... fake:yikes:..£5.00
for a full bottle Dior perfume as an example. Amber
he found from the sea and made things like a key ring
          and necklace...nice memories..:).

I'm sure you're working on lots of cuttings, Phil, to plant somewhere in your Garden.:dunno: I also think it's true to say that your garden is among the top much admired Gardens on GC.:love30: The work, patience, gardening ability to get a first class garden, such as yours, deserves recognition.

The Rhubarb is around 30 years old, grown from seeds from a plant in Tissington Village in Derbyshire while walking through the Village with my Wife and Brother. The owner of the plant didn't know the name of the variety but, because it gives such huge leaves and really thick tasty stems, I've named it "Tissington Giant"
                upload_2021-2-4_19-41-13.png

I try to make sure that pots are never empty so they can end up planted with all sorts of Hardy Perennials

This large square Chinese style red pot is my second favourite after the Chinese Green Ribbed one and has held a Flowering Ribes for some years now.

Ferns can be found in the wildlife area too although I'm never sure when I planted them:dunno::doh:
So I always seem to be "discovering" something new in the garden.:heehee:
                upload_2021-2-4_19-53-11.png

While this may look abandoned and a mess it is, in fact, a deliberate area left for the Wildlife
which I keep a gentle eye on to ensure it doesn't get out of hand. It has a White Buddleia and a Yellow Buddleia, Viburnum, Berberis, Hellebores, Hardy Fuchsia etc in it which insects happily seem to live.
                upload_2021-2-4_19-57-10.png

A quick inspection of the Tree Fern shows it's quite happy and has got through the brief hard frosts very well.

I am late coming to the party ... but here I am!

All is looking fantastic after the snow.
... is the Buddleia not a Yucca?
... I love all your pots, especially the 18 year old one on its side. I love old pots ... and jugs :heehee: I have a few old ones on the china cabinet in the Foyer..
... I can't wait to see those Bearded Iris in bloom ... they will be a show stopper!

                        @Victoria

Hi Victoria, I think the image you're referring to is of the Yucca that didn't do well due to the big old Buddleia next to it. I remedied, hopefully, that problem by drastically reducing the size of the Buddleia.

I'm hoping that will prove to be true. Last year was the year where I completed the collection to my satisfaction,(and maybe a little bit more:dunno::heehee:) as I think there are something like 93 different Bearded Iris in the collection. I've got to deweed the pots and then wait for signs of the start of this year's growth before I start feeding.
